If only there was a long thread on this topic already.

The real question is do the Jags have the cap room to keep him

Im hoping they have to overpay for a QB (Smith, Cousins, Etc.) and let him walk, but we will see. If he is available though we should be all for it. If he wants to bet on himself having a good year (like Alshon) we are the perfect place for it now with Jimmy.

Was the injury an ACL?
Yes. I know a Baalke pick... which is why you don't overpay with him...

I was afraid you were going to say that.

I'm not sure if the jags will retain him. They've succeeded this year without him and Marquise Lee and Westbroo have both proven to be good players. They'll also get Hurns back so I'm not sure they try too hard to keep him. I surely don't think they franchise him at 16m per.

Yes but it happened in the first game of the season. He's expected to be ready for off-season activities. If that injury doesn't happen then there really is no shot he makes it to free agency. So you have to weigh the risk and reward. It's because of the injury there's a shot he not only makes it to free agency but he takes a one year prove it kind of deal as well.

Garcon has years playing under Shanny and is a 1k receiver himself.

Goodwin and Robinson are different receivers and he offers the speed Shanny covets.

I firmly think Garcon and Goodwin would start A Rob would come in as the 3rd receiver until we phase Garcon out.

Only way we get a #1 like Allen IMO is if we ship out Garcon. Bottom line. I wonder who we could trade him to...Send him back to Washington or Indy

Zero chance Garcon or Goodwin keep Allen Robinson off the field. Garcon has had 1000 yards twice in his career and his big year in 2013 was due to him being force fed the ball (181 targets). He's 31 so I'm not counting on him being a 1000 yard receiver ever again if we bring in a true #1 WR.

Agree that Robinson isn't a perfect scheme fit because he's more of a jump ball/contested catch receiver like Hopkins, but he's so much better than Garcon that it wouldn't matter.
Robinson would def be #1 WR. He's too good not to be followed by Garcon and then Goodwin. WR group would be set for a SB run.

You're dismissing Garçon's experience in Shanny's system which I wouldn't do. This is someone he brought in twice to play for him.

Robinson being more talented isn't just going to knock him out.

Goodwin will start over him for 4.25 reasons.

Ive came around to saying we aint getting no "#1" unless Garcon is moved. Just my gut. And my gut says Garcon will be here next year. Think were gonna groom someone and add a vet contributor to take Aldrick Robinson's roster spot. Rookie takes Boldens.

Robinson is a technician at route running. He is absolutely not just a tall target, tho he is a master at 50/50 contested balls. He is 100% the definition of a #1 receiver and there is no reason to think he wouldn't be in our system, unless he hasn't recovered from his ACL. And he is not slow...He is a sub 4.5 WR at 6'3 210 lbs. He is absolutely, without a doubt, unequivocally a better receiver than both garcon and Goodwin

Actually ran a 4.60 at the combine then sub 4.5 at his pro day.

Not slow but he won't play the speedster Desean role in the o. Goodwin has that on lockdown here with his play.
