Sammy Watkins - WR - Bills
Sammy Watkins believes the draft class of 2014 will "change the market."
"We gotta get paid more," Watkins said in a tweet Sunday morning. He also shared a retweet stating that NFL players "get the smallest piece of the pie" compared to other leagues like the NBA. Watkins himself will earn a modest $3,138,491 in the final year of his rookie deal. As a point of reference, the NFL's highest-paid wide receiver, Antonio Brown, will pull in $17 million in 2017. At that salary, he'd be the NBA's 53rd highest-paid player.

The NBA has like 80 games in a season. Baseball about twice that. Football has 16 games.

Think of the money a team brings in with a stadium full of fans, TV ads etc from 80 to 160 games.

I understand how football players feel. They are more susceptible to life changing injuries even with far less games, and the average career length obviously favors NBA players. The NBA players share half of the league revenue and their contracts are usually fully guaranteed. However, there are four times the amount of football players on a roster as opposed to an NBA roster. It will never happen.

Truth! I definitely see a strike coming around and they're going to demand a financial restructure, like what you discussed earlier....the NBA players sharing league revenue and guaranteed contracts.

Just an FYI -- Nothing in the NBA CBA requires guaranteed contracts in free agency. Guaranteed contracts are a staple of NBA free agency because the market demanded it for top players and GMs give it to them.

Realistically, only NFL QBs have a shot at getting 100% guaranteed contracts since their impact on the game is so great. There's a smaller chance for players who opt for short term (2-3 year) deals that are 100% guaranteed. But that would be only for top players.

There is no chance owners would mandate guaranteed contracts in the CBA. It'll never happen no matter how long players holdout.
Way too many injuries in football for full guaranteed contracts. Lets not be silly. Everyone would have a coin flip chance of going to salary cap hell.

Bills making moves.

Added CB EJ Gaines, 2018 2nd round pick, WR Jordan Matthews, 2018 3rd round pick for WR Sammy Watkins and CB Ronald Darby.

I like what the Bills did here. They now have two 1st round, two 2nd round and two 3rd round picks next year.

Bills now run the 2018 draft. Two 1s, Two 2s, Two 3s.

They can get any QB they want.

This seems dumb for the Rams.

They either HAVE TO franchise Watkins OR sign him to a mega deal. No wiggle room.

pedestrian season and they'll overpay him. They will not need to use the franchise tag as nobody is giving him top 10 money let alone top 5.... I can't for the life of me understand why they traded for an oft injured receiver that has underperformed and only has a year left on the contract. Unless it was a 5th or later round pick. But that is why I believe they'll overpay him.

I think no matter what whether he resigns with the Rams or another team in free agency he will get 9-10 million a year if he has a healthy productive season..say 60 reception 5 or more tds 800 yards will get him paid bc of his age talent and teams hope for more in the future..

My bro is a rams fan. He wants to gamble and lock him up now before he goes off and wants to get paid. If im Snead i do let him prove himself and then if i have to i tag him.

It is the Rams doe who knows.. Theyre desperate.
