Can't really say 3rd or 4th round for a RB is later rounds. It's fairly solid round to get a RB.

Gore was great (3rd round)
Michael Robinson was legit (4th round)
Glenn Coffee major bust (3rd round)
Boobie Dixon was solid (6th round)
Hunter would have done well also if he didn't keep getting hurt. (4th round)
Bruce Miller did good things (7th round)
Mike Davis was a bust. (4th round)
Lattimore was a bust but for different reasons in that he was high risk. (4th round)
LaMichael James was a huge bust (2nd round)
This guy Tevon Coleman or naw?

Joe Williams, 49ers
What a difference a full offseason makes. When Williams was drafted, he was seen as the ideal speedster and quick back for Kyle Shanahan's zone running with a lot more Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman in him than Carlos Hyde. But so much for all the Williams love and Hyde hate.
Hyde is not only healthy again, but he responded to the challenge by being in his best shape ever for camp. With Hyde dominating starter reps again and Shanahan favorite Tim Hightower running well, too, Williams has shown more of his inexperience than his expected burst. He's not close to push for No. 1 as a shaky, overwhelmed No. 3 so far.

He's a rookie with about a month or two of work put in let's relax and have some patience with these rookies

I'm relaxed, but he can't...there another Rookie that would like that 3rd spot.

Two different skills sets. Hightower will back up Hyde and Breida will back up Williams. He'll get plenty of snaps in compliment of Hyde...the 1-2 punch like in Atlanta. That said, Breida has a chance to beat him out at RB2.

Totally understand. I know a lot were crazy talks about him beating out Hyde, so hearing that he may get pushed by Breida is news to me. Regardless I'm happy with our RB's!!!

Ditto

Another excellent competition to keep an eye on.

All of a sudden Joe Williams has strung together 2 good practices back to back. He may be getting his footing in the nfl

Rookie running back Joe Williams had a strong run when the second team defense was going in one direction and he broke back the other way and used his speed to break free down field. Williams had a slow start to camp and early on did not look as good as the team's other rookie, Matt Breida. Shanahan, however, said Thursday's session was Williams' top practice of camp and that Friday's was even better than that.

I'm probably overreacting to one carry, but man is this dude FAST.
He has that element that can't be taught: quick cut burst. He's still raw in knowing the blocking scheme, and he's probably got a long way to go in pass blocking, but he looks like a nice weapon at times while he learns the system.
So quick it's scary. I feel like every carry can go all the way for him.
Him and breida are good so far. Hyde is going to have his best career to stay a niner.
