Seansf49VeteranPosts: 36 I find it weird that the Niners sign chad hall off the street and he sees playing time, yet lockette doesn't get a chance. He seems every bit the better athlete than hallm and had plenty of time to get acclimated with the play book. What gives?
Obviously our excellent coaching staff feels the other guy was better.

He has befriended Kaep and is working out with him so that can only help his development.

Sounds like the perfect practice squad candidate. A physical specimen that is also very raw. These are the types of players we want on the practice squad. Ones that have the athletic potential to play in the NFL but have to develop the football skills for the NFL level. Great if he earns a spot on the team. If not we move on to the next in line.

Lockette says in one of his youtube videos that coming from a division 2 school into the NFL, the playbook was crazy and he wasn't very acclimated to that. So, i think it's taking him time to get a grasp of NFL play calling and the playbooks. He probably also needs work on his route running. Seems a little cocky through the videos with M Rob. He definitely looks the part of a WR that can dominate, but let's hope he can actually be that WR with some training and time.

I really hope that he can develop. He is a physical specimen. If we can get a 6'3 215 pound receiver who runs a 4.3 to be our #2 guy and be a solid contributor that'll be huge!

He turned down the opportunity to be on an NFL roster to stay on the 49ers practice squad, to me that is pretty damn admirable. Dude seems to have a lot of grit and determination, interested to see how he develops and whether he's in play for a shot at the active roster next season.

I don't see the connection with Marcus Maxwell. Maxwell was a division one player who got lots of attention and had seen a lot of action by the time he entered the NFL. Lockette is raw talent without much experience.
