WTF are we thinking?

How was ICE a failure at NT....he was not, the niners have been in the top of the league against the run for a while now and he was part of that success as a NT and an end.

And by the way macdonald is good as a pass rusher and against the run. Our pass D will improve and our run D will not.....however with willis and co im not worried about the dropoff between tko and bowman, franklin and ice, even baas and whoever we get in there

Sopoaga failed when the defense was a 2-gap 3-4. Franklin failed in that scheme also. Franklin didn't have ANY success until we switched to the 1-gap. Sopoaga should be fine. McDonald is a superior pass rusher on the end, I'm kind of excited about this.

Also... Franklin sucked last season.

Ownership brought in Harbough to win NOW. This team cannot afford a 3 year rebuilding plan. What team tries to move into a new stadium on a decade long turd streak?? they have to post a winning record in the next 2 years if they really want to get a new stadium.

With the lokout, new staff, new offense, defense... do I need to keep going? Expectations of a lot of wins this season are kind of silly. Next year is far more likely... and would still fit into your stadium requirements

Sometimes you have no choice. The Redskins did the "future is now" thing many years ago and while they had some success (losing the Super Bowl), they relegated themselves to decades of mediocrity thereafter. And that was a different time. Now, with the realities of the salary cap, etc., having the relatively right mix of players -- and being able to adjust as players get injured or retire -- to execute your gameplan is paramount. And like it or not, it will take time, given where we're starting from.

Well the niners are on there 3rd rebuild since the last winning season so anything is possible. It is just so sad because in about 3 years the niners will likely be the worse team in a 10 year span. At least the Bills still suck
