The WCO that Carroll ran at Seattle was quite different from Harbaugh's. The Holmgren version is a little bit closer but both were nothing like carbon copies of Harbaugh. Consequently, I am not convinced that Hasselback would be any great addition in terms of teaching HARBAUGH'S WCO over Alex Smith who has been able to spend a good bit of time with the Harbaugh book. That leaves us with the position that the main reason to sign Hasselback would be as the #1 which would move Kaep down to #3 with David Carr being released. I just don't think Hasselback would come here unless he was pretty much guaranteed the starting spot, and given his injury history and his age, I highly doubt Harbaugh would do that. Just my opinion...

On Matt Hasselbeck, I continue to believe he will end up with Titans, but SF and MINN are possibilities as well.

We should at least contact him and offer him a deal, but don't push for him if he doesn't want to come, no need to get into a bidding war for him, we should really go after Joseph.

So is Matt starting or is Alex? Who's holding the clipboard?

If Matty is the back-up, he can talk with Kaep while he's holding the clipboard. If Matty Matt is starting, he won't have time to tutor. That'd fall to Alex... default to Harbaugh.

So, I think he's either a mentor or a starter... not both. If he's not a starter, is it really necessary to sign him just to mentor Kaep when we already have Harbaugh for that?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just don't know how important it it compared to our other needs....

Now, If Hasselbeck lights s**t on fire as a starter, of course we're all down with that s**t. That's a big "If", though.

hasselbeck maybe has one more playoff year in him. he's one hit away from retirement though.
