Why do people want Lawson back? Are we really gong to miss his 2.5 sacks next season?

no we will miss all the pressure he brings his run support and the coverage
i swear some people dont watch games they just look at stats and determine by that if a player is god or not

Maybe because he was expected to be our stud pass rushing OLB when we drafted him and what we got is a coverage LB

Jonathan Joseph, CB, Cincinnati. Quinn Johnson, FB, Packers. Veteran Guard. Bandon Mebane would be as well.

THIS! ^
Lawson was ProFootballFocus' 8th best rated 3-4 OLB for the 2010 season.

Whoever says Lawson is a good 3-4 olb is dead wrong. He is a Tampa 2 linebacker in a 3-4. Good rushlinebackers, you guessed it, rush the passer well. He may get "pressure" as he comes flailing off the outside and the qb easily steps up but he is to small to bullrush or actualy get to the qb around the corner. Watch the steelers or greenbay or the cowboys or the broncos a couple years ago. 3-4 OLBS GET TO THE QB.

His coverage has helped get our defense off the field on a lot of 3rd downs. He has better pass coverage than Nate lol.

Some major FA spending! I just want Harbaugh to get some financial support from Jed and to revitalize the fan base.
I don't think we can land Asomugha, but it would be really nice to get Mebane or Joseph or Marshall or maybe a legit WR.
We have money to spend, hopefully we do it. The 'build through the draft' works in the long run, but too many vital positions are dangerously thin on this team.

I'd recommend the NT spot. Doesn't have the long arms, but he's got the anchor and penetration to be the 1-gap NT we need. Also keeps Sopoaga at LDE, where despite some opinions, he does a very solid job.
(sure there would be a healthy rotation anyway)

Depends. If Fangio plays a lot of conventional 3-4, Mebane will probably be in the rotation at LDE and NT. If we see a lot of 2-4-5 looks, he'll play all over the line.
Older but fun video (except the bit where he buries Frank Gore):

the Chosen One (Steve Young) has spoken. He said Hasselbeck will come to SF.

Well...Steve also said that it's between us and the Titans but Hasselbeck wants to be in SF. I think he is just trying to avoid being hit by Willis again.
