I don't feel that we'll get Asomugha.
Out of the following CB, who would be the "best fit" as a performer and team-member for us and WHY.
a). Jonathan Joseph
b). Ike Taylor
c). Richard Marshall
d). Cromartie

I'm not so sure guys like Marshall, Carlos Rogers, Ike Taylor are that big of upgrades over Spencer and Clements. I would sign them and they would make us better but almost because of the fact that it would push one of those guys down to 3 over Brown. Ike is a team guy but he is 31 and never had more than 3 ints in a year. Might be cheaper than the other two. Joseph will still get a pretty big contract.... not Nnamdi big but still pretty big. I see us going the cheaper route as we have a lot of our own guys to re-sign. Fabian Washington, Drayton Florence or Chris Carr could be other cheap guys to go after. Cromartie is a guy I don't feel we will sign. Not our type of player. Horrible against the run, makes big plays but gives up big plays as well. Doesn't give 100% often, comes with off field baggage.
As for who fits the type of defense we will run can't really say. Not really sure what the secondary coaches or Vic Fangio will run. I assume more man and a more aggressive style than the past. We played a lot of zone and bend don't break in the past few regimes. I would think Joseph or Nnamdi are the best in man coverage, Marshall will get beat a lot in man, not sure about Ike but I doubt he can keep up in man with the better WRs, Rogers is decent in man.

Probably Joseph and maybe Cromartie with his 28 kids they can fill other needs on the team.

i'd rather the team use the free agent dollars to get the best players rather than try to force filling a need....for example, maybe ike taylor can be signed, but if a better player at another position, say for example sidney rice, or malcom floyd, can be had for a similar amopunt, id rather go after a rice type player who is younger and likely to make more of an impact

I would go with Joseph. Shouldn't this be a poll question. Feels like one.
