The need for another Vet RB

It looks like Westbrook is not coming back guys so it got me thinking: Gore takes alot of punishment and the best teams have 2-3 RB rotations. I like Dixon, but he needs to work on his blocking and hands Hunter is the Xfactor, Personally I think he could be the main guy 3 years down the road but he also has a tiny frame and im sure cant take too many big hits. So I propose we sign a vet RB to give us complete peace of mind in our backfield I really think Clinton Portis would be a good fit for this team: 1) He is a top 5 blocker for RBs in the NFL 2) Vet Leadership 3) Still has a couple years left in the tank Any thoughts fellow zoners?

There is no way we are entering th NFL season with 4 rb and hunter and Dixon will not make it to the PS our Rbs are set

Gore 15-17 carrries/game
Dixon 2-3 carries/game
Hunter 3-5 carries/game (assuming he is at least decent)

okay Broseph, if you have been listening which clearly you havent, part of the new CBA will include more roster spots. With RBs taking the tough hits that they do this makes alot of sense.

It is at least a mildly interesting topic to consider. Not at all sure that we need to add a fairly expensive vet. It's impossible to predict what Harbaugh/Roman/Rathman really thinks of our RB depth come September.

I think we may stay as is though. We also have a reserve contract for Xavier Omon. Someone I liked as a prospect coming out, but again, who knows if we still have an interest in him.

name calling? I am being realistic to the 85% of zoners who think we are imune to injuries and have the best team ever

49ers dont need a vet RB at all. What we need is a vet QB who knows the WCO which we dont have.
