4-3 OLB, and that's about it. If people complain so much about Lawson why do we want an over the hill version of Manny. He USED to be a stud, so did Joey Porter. He only got 1 sack last year behind Vanden Bosch, Avril, Suh and Corey Williams in a 4-3... how is he gonna be better in our 3-4 when there is an additional blocker to account for him?

C'mon. Peterson was way better than Lawson.

I think he could improve our team and he doesn't cost anything.

one of my all time favorite 49ers
Julian Peterson has something left, would not mind him back here.

I loved JP. I will never forgive Nolan forgetting rid of him in his prime but at this point I really don't think there is much gas left in the tank.

I would take Spikes over Peterson. Spikes has a lot left.
sukked in the 3-4.
I wonder if Peterson's still got the speed. I remember a game against the Chiefs he was assigned to cover Gonzo and Peterson blanketed Gonzo like a shutdown corner, swatting balls down at the last second. Awesome game for Julian.

Rookie Year: 47 tackles, four sacks, and two interceptions.
In 2002: Pro Bowl 94 tackles
In six seasons in San Francisco:394 tackles, 21.5 sacks, and five interceptions (79 Games)

+ Two more Pro Bowls.

I hope you weren't referring to his time here in SF. Before PW he was the best linebacker we had since the start of the decade!

i remember that game. TG was in his prime and all the commentators were raving about how well JP was playing. i was pretty young and didn't fully understand EVERYTHING about football, so I remember my dad saying how good peterson was, and he became my favorite for that year
If we were a 4-3 scheme... losing Lawson... and JP wanted to come back for reasonable pay... then I'd be glad to have him back for a couple years. Liked JP in the early years, but he's not well suited for the 3-4.

As I recall, we really tried hard to keep him, but his agents (Postons, was it?) were being pretty unreasonable.
