Quick list of players not on our own team that are/where free agents (that fit our needs):

Tagged/re-signed:
Champ Bailey, Wimbley, Greenway, Hali, David Harris, Routt, Rhonde Barber, Lewis (te), Ryan Kalil (c), Paul Soliai (nt), Manning, Brady, Woodley, Ngata, Phil Dawson, John Henderson, Vick, Vincent Jackson, Mankins

Released:
Atogwe, Bob Sanders, McGahee, Shockey, Marcus Stroud
Out of this group Atogwe is the only one I would look at. Would be an upgrade over Goldson but still isn't the best cover guy.

Potential Releases:
-Santana Moss - Up there in age but still going strong. Could be that guy that we need to stretch the field a bit. He is a heck of a lot more consistent than Morgan.
-Donovan McNabb - I know he isn't what he use to be but he is experienced in the WCO and would be a decent replacement for a few years until we get a rookie ready. He is a better option then most and wouldn't cost anything if the Redskins cut him which could happen since he wants out.

Guys we could look at:
-Nnamdi Asomugha - A little older but still top priority
-Jonathan Joseph - Would be a nice alternative to Nnamdi, cost less as well
-Cullen Jenkins - Would be nice pickup but is also 30
-Mathias Kiwanuka - could be potential OLB
-Santonio Holmes/Braylon Edwards - Someone is getting a big paycheck, the other will probably be gone.
-Richard Marshall - 3rd CB option, cheaper but not as good as the other 2.
-Carl Nicks - Big time money and would probably make us move Iupati to RG. (Might cost us picks, not sure how tenders work with no CBA)
-Harvey Dahl - Drafted by us and placed on our PS, would love to have him back.
-Lance Moore - Would be a nice slot guy. Would come cheap but only question is.. product of Drew Brees?
-Le'Ron McClain - Can run the ball (900 yards a few years back), can catch the ball a bit, helped Ray Rice put up big #'s the past 2 yrs.

Guys I would probably pass on:
-James Jones - Probably a product of the system, wouldn't perform as well here.
-Malcolm Floyd - Probably a product of the system, wouldn't perform as well here.
-Mike Tolbert - Bet he could get a big deal like Turner did.
-Michael Bush - Would be nice to have but I think we're looking for a #3 RB.
-Terrell Owens - Produces but we don't want those type of players w/ new staff.
-Ahmad Bradshaw - Would be nice compliment to Gore but he can probably be a #1 some where. We couldn't give him enough time with Gore.
-Antonio Cromartie - He's the guy that one play gets you an int and the next gets burned for a td. He is also shy about tackling at times. Could be a headache for a new coaching staff and young team.
-Sidney Rice - I think he's a decent player but will probably struggle if he doesn't have a great QB. Probably will be overpaid....

Summary:
For the most part a lot of the best players are tagged or have been re-signed. There usually is a reason for letting a player go. However, there are still some great players out there. Problem is if the CBA doesn't get signed until late I don't see any of them having time to visit teams and work out a contract. Teams might end up frantically rushing to sign their own players. It really would be a mess if it doesn't get signed until Sept. Now if it gets signed within the next few months everything is back on like normal. Until it is signed all of these guys except for the players cut are off limits. I believe in a few days we are no longer allowed to negotiate with our own players either.

^^ Great post and well formatted
Nmamdi Asomugha, Mathias Kiwanuka, Car Nicks, Johnathan Joseph

I think since it's gonna be really difficult to sign Nnamdi, we need to get Joseph. Once we sign Joseph, we can go Miller or Quinn in the 1st, and grab a QB in the 2nd (Ponder)

That way, we can put off CB until the 3rd or maybe even the 4th.
asomugha or joseph. if we sign either one of them, this offseason will be a success

What about sign Eric Wright and draft Peterson at #7?

The Browns fans where really hating on Wright this year... last year he seemed like the only one who was trying but this year he cost them games according to their fans. He was born in SF so that could have helped our cause though.

I haven't been paying real close attention to Owens' antics the past couple seasons, but it seems his behavior has gotten much better with age. Is he still a locker room cancer? I don't think so, but like I said, I haven't been paying real close attention to what he's been doing off the field.

He's not the same guy he was years ago - both on and off the field - but he's still a good WR and we can use his services.

I don't think he is as bad as he use to be but he still brings the media. We will have a young team learning a new system with new coaches. We really don't want any player that could potentially under mind the coaches or set a bad example. One thing I have been proud of these past 8 or so years is that even though we have been bad we haven't brought bad attention on ourselves for the most part. We always have done things the right way. Yes, we have had some things but probably like 5 incidents which is less than the Bengals in one off season.

Edit: Plus if we have a young QB or Alex Smith that will not work. Maybe if we got a vet but I doubt he would work with McNabb or Palmer again.

doesn't sound bad to me but we could also use a pass rusher at 7 or aj green

great post man!

Nnamdi Asomugha is the only guy worth over paying for although Sidney Rice would be awesome next to Crabs/VD/Gore.

McLain would be a perfect WCO FB

Wouldn't want Edwards or Holmes no headache WRs please.

Getting a QB via trade and some mid level FAs to plug holes is probably all we're going to get this offseason. I think A.Franklin is one of the best available FAs out there and I really hope we re-sign him.

A.Franklin/Baas/Spikes re-signed

McLain/Asomugha and a vet OG as FA with Kolb/Orton/Palmer/Flynn coming in at QB would be a dream come true.
