I can dream.

I assume that if the Jets are willing to let AC walk, it's because they will go after Asokajdfadrf hard.

Disclosure: I didn't read the link.

no way they can afford revis and namdi thats about 30 million on CB a year

I know it sounds crazy, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Yeah I heard that also. Nnamdi in the past has said he wants to play with Revis, and Revis was lobbying for him to come to NY. They're a big market team so they can afford it, and they'll probably be letting some of their other FAs go. I doubt they pay both WRs and now they're letting AC walk.

The article mentions that the Jets want to keep S. Holmes AND B. Edwards!

Yeah but that doesn't mean they're going to follow through with that. That could be a smokescreen for signing Nnamdi. IMO that's what it is anyway.

I guess I'll be the first one to say don't sign Cromartie, the guy that's scared to tackle and has like 10 or 20 kids. Skip!

As opposed to Nate Clements, who loves to tackle but can't cover to save his life. I'll take Cromartie over Nate any day.

And what do his 523 kids have to do with anything?

They can do it, but they will suffer in other areas because they'd have to release some talent due to the cap issues they'd bring upon themselves.

Shows parental irresponsibility off the field with having multiple kids with different women in several states. I highly doubt he's a good father to all of them equally. Also, he's definitely a distraction when talking trash towards opposing teams. I don't think Harbaugh would approve of that, make a statement on the field, not to the media.

The only good point made was that AC was tested and proven in coverage since QBs stayed away from throwing towards Revis' side of the field.
not surprised by this.

He will cost some cash, he has to pay for all them damn kids.

At this point in his career he's quite a bit better in coverage than Nate. Pretty much nobody threw well against the Jets this year, and it's not like they weren't throwing at Cromartie because Revis was on the other side. So he got tested quite a bit and rarely got burned. I remember on 49ers post game live or something like that Eric Davis was saying that when he played, the 9ers had some nice guys, some tough guys, and some car thieves. He said every team needs "some car thieves". We have the nice guys and tough silent guys, we need the car thieves. Basically, unless the dude's a rapist or murder or has chronic drug issues or destroys a lockerroom we shouldn't look past them. Cromartie might have infinite kids and get mad at the other team easily but we could use some nastiness to our defense. He's also pretty young and has good years left. Then we could use our first rounder on Von Miller or Robert Quinn for sure. That'd be beast.

That's a funny comparison from ED, we need thieves. Well, AC is the opposite, he doesn't take things, he leaves deposits inside women instead. But I agree that he's proven to be a good cover corner. I'm unsure that he's that great in run support though. But our weakness has been pass defense when pass rush doesn't get to QB in time, so he could be a benefit despite being a distraction on and off the field.

Why is he a distraction off the field?

With all the problems in his personal life (multiple kids in various states), that's a distraction and could hinder his focus on his career, especially during football season. I mean, the guy couldn't even remember all of his kids' names. You know, come to think of it, maybe being an irresponsible father owing tens or hundreds of thousands in child support doesn't affect him. I mean, you have to actually "care" for your kids to let it affect you.

That's not an distraction off the field for the team. That's all i care about. He's not getting into any legal problems so I could careless that he doesn't wear condoms. He's not the only player with major personal issues outside of the game. Frank Gore has a child by Roscoe Parrish's sister, dumped her to date Roscoe Parrish's baby mother. Which led to the chics having a brawl in the middle of the street. Is he an off the field distraction b/c his personal life isn't ideal? Who cares about personal issues as long as it isn't leading to arrests, failed drug tests, and suspensions. Now if he were getting arrested for not making child support payments there would be more of an issue.
I can't figure out how he's going to pay for the child support after his nfl career is over.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't hink he's reall yany good. He had a lousy year and has been living off his rookie year for some time when he was on a team with a ferocious pass rush. A lot of CBs look good in those conditions.

hes definitely not a great #1 CB (maybe top 20 at best)

but he is definitely a starter in the nfl

So are a lot of guys, minus the baggage. Plenty of teams have a good number 2 or 3 CB.
Antonio Cromartie would join Nate Clements, Shawntae Spencer, and Philip Adams. Looks good on paper HOWEVER... What does this make of Dashon Goldson? Taylor Mays? Clements cant remain at his salary @ CB plus who knows how good he would be as a Safety.
