Bruce Gradkowski

I just don't get people. How can you not like this guy? He's a gamer and wins despite his surrounding cast. Is it because he's not a Montana, Elway, P. Manning, Brady, or Young? I think Gradkowski is an awesome stop gap option that can win us some games as our team and future QB develops.

Hey mav, there is a thread where someone actually had the bright idea to suggest Chad Pennington. You know, the one who has played 4 games in 2 years and a busted shoulder on his all important throwing arm. Yeah that Chad Pennington. So common sense isn't too common when it comes to this subject as of late.

I like Gradkowski myself and think he could be a very good option for a year or 2 while the future QB is getting his reps in practice. He reminds me a lot of Garcia. Tough and gutsy although not blessed with a bunch of size or a big arm, but still works hard and keeps your team in most games.

I think everyone is expecting the vet free agent QB we bring in to give us a super bowl. Honestly, don't think of the QBs out there can do that. There is a reason they will be free agents. I think what we hope to accomplish with this vet is to hold us over until our project QB is ready. Maybe even to hold us over until we draft a QB high next year. I think playoffs are a reasonable expectation for the vet QB but its a new system, year 1. If we can make strides and build up the team around the project or new QB next year we will be much better off. Say fix the secondary, maybe another weapon on offense, get the line working together better... I just don't think there is a QB in this draft that we could throw in year 1 that fits the WCO.

Orton might be the best answer but don't think he has run any WCO. McNabb and Kolb are probably the next best options but those guys have issues as well. There is a reason these guys could be free agents or traded for. I think it would be beneficial for us to have a vet WCO QB with everyone else learning the system. Problem with McNabb is will he want to help the young QBs? He will probably want to start for 2 years. Then if we trade for Kolb it's almost forcing us to say you are the future. Giving up a 1st or 2nd and paying that much money says you are the future. With McNabb he will probably get cut by the Redskins and will cost us nothing more than what we sign him for (which will still be big $). If we sign him we should be straight with him.... not sure he would sign a 1 year deal, maybe 2 but we have to tell him you are here until the young guy is ready.
