upgrades....some on the roster some fa and the draft

Both smiths are good backups but not starters...both have accuracy problems...the most important thing. Upgrade is mcnabb or kolb. Hopefully ariz doesnt get mcnabb because he lives there.
Ol we need a new rg...the other positions will improve but rg and rt are terrible. Davis better get better he is so bad. We will not spend a high draft pick bc our ol is made of 3 firsts and 2 seconds.
Olbs..brooks is better than haralson even though he dropped two ints haralson never came close to getting one as a starter for 3 years. Brooks the starter.
Secondary. A cb in the first round or a fa. Clements is great against the run and above avg against the pass. Move him to third cb or strong safety.
We need a pass rusher through fa or the draft but i think a cb would be a bigger need.
We need a speed wr but i think williams is great and should be number 2 ginn is great but as a deep threat and quick screen wr and morgan just solid 3.
Great rbs tes dl.

I hope we trade for kolb for a second or mcnabb gets released and we get him before ariz and minn. We cant wait for a rookie qb to get good for another 2 to 3 seasons.

What do you think?

i think your pretty right on...but if we were to draft a Qb I think either Smith could do a good job to fill the gap until the rook got some experience. Looking back at the earlier games from Alex, he wasn't great but he definitely wasn't as bad as the stats show. alot of his errors came from poor OL play. I think next year our young line will solidify and you'll see either Smith do pretty well if they get some time to throw the ball. I know some people will call me crazy for saying that but if you really watch the footage and actually understand football you'll see that no QB can produce solid/consistent numbers when they have no time to go through the reads. I'm not saying either Smith is the future by any means but they are definitely decent as a transitional QB to prepare the young gun for his rise to power.
Sorry, but I think Clements is a below average cover corner.

I would rather draft a great run defending CB like Brandon Burton in the 2nd round and a great ball hawk like Rashad Carmichael in the 3rd or 4th. Pick up a Safety in FA or spend another middle round pick on a guy like Ahmad Black if Goldson walked.
Our Roster needs go as this priority
Round 1:
QB(Highest priority: Mallet, Newton, Pryor(if he declares)
FA pick
McNabb or Bulger
Round 2:
CB(Brandon Harris or Brandon Burton)
FA Pick
Eric Wright, Josh Wilson, Ike Taylor)
Round 3:
WR(Armon Binns)
FA Pick
Sydney Rice, Steve Smith, Mike Sims-Walker)
DE/NT(Adrian Taylor Jerrell Powe)
FA Pick
Ray Edwards or Sean Ellis
Round 4:
CB(Rashad Carmichael)
FA Pick
See pick 2
S/FS(Ahmad Black)
FA Pick
Brodney Pool
Round 5:
RB/FB(Noel Devine or Stanley Havili)
FA Pick
Le'Ron McClain, Cedric Benson or DeAngelo Williams. We just don't know how bad Gore's hip injury is until spring training starts.
Round 6:
DE(Jonathan Freeny)
FA Pick
See above
Round 7:
LB(Elijah Smith)
FA Pick
David Harris or Shawne Merriman

and fin.

Is Ryan Fitzpatrick a FA?

If Buffalo lands the #1 pick I wouldn't mind grabbing him and taking a QB in round 2 or later

Buffalo will keep him for continuity unless Luck is available then they will dumb him.
I'm not big on moving players around, but have always loved the idea of Clements at Strong Safety. He'd more than earn his keep at that position against the run, and would still be one of the best cover safeties in the league if he transitions to SS. The problem is the Niners just haven't had enough depth at corner the last few years to try this, hopefully we snag Peterson or Akamakataka in the draft and make the change.

Really? You don't think that Clements could play at FS? I'd love to see Clements and Mays back there. That'd be some serious "thump" to the secondary.

Carson Palmer may be cut due to his salary number fro 2011. i'd take a good long look at him.

Mays is faster which is why I'd prefer his at FS and Clements at SS. But you're probably right, Clements' coverage skills are superior so he'd probably fit better as FS than Mays. Either way, we're on the same page with wanting them out there together, THAT would be scary if you're a WR going over the middle.

Olbs..brooks is better than haralson even though he dropped two ints haralson never came close to getting one as a starter for 3 years. Brooks the starter. why do u care about interceptions though we are talking about pass-rushers??? neither of them showed sth promising...

We need a pass rusher through fa or the draft but i think a cb would be a bigger need. no, i see pass-rush as the bigger need. the people talk about our DBs b/c they see too many completions but it's on the pass-rush to avoid perfect throws...

Great rbs tes dl. why should williams be the number 2??? how did he deserve that? but yes, in general we could need some speed at WR.
and NO, our d-line is not that great...soap is an avg player and franklin could be gone.

I hope we trade for kolb for a second or mcnabb gets released and we get him before ariz and minn. We cant wait for a rookie qb to get good for another 2 to 3 seasons. kolb for a 2nd...that's the highest offer i would give to the eagles b/c he was drafted in the 2nd. i'm afraid that he is a system guy and as long as we cant install the same system here, we shouldnt be too optimistic about that guy.

What do you think?
I really dont get why these forums are so anti Kolb. Having seen everyone of his games I can say for certain....kid is a stud. The only reason Vick got the job was his ridiculous mobility and the fact the Iggles O'line is scarily, worse than ours.

I don't know another corner that plays the run better than Clements. That alone puts him above average for me.

that's who I want. Have our rookie sit and watch him.
