I've wondered this for the longest. Is Eric Wright the son of former 49ers CB Eric Wright? I remember seeing him at USC and at UNLV and I think he was listed as being from San Francisco, but I've never heard this mentioned on any broadcast.

I'd re-sign our guys(minus Lewis, ) to some cap friendly deals. I'd only go after a big name NT if Franklin kills it this year and wants Haynesworth type $$$$, otherwise him and Goldson would probably cost the most. Davis will have his deal done before seasons end trust dat.

Same name, but no relation...
Eric Wright went to my rival high school here in SF. He was in the same year as Jason Hill, though they played on rival squads (Wright played for Riordan, Hill for SHC). I wouldn't be surprised if he did move back to the bay, though I don't see him as an upgrade on our secondary. It'd be like signing another Tarrell Brown.

Sing and Balke could always trade a few 1st rounders for him.

We could use another Tarell Brown type CB. After Tarell Brown there is little depth at CB.

We might sign one free agent but we like to take care of our guys and once we do that we probably won't have enough money to sign any outsiders. Either through the draft or FA we have to upgrade the CB position. I'd like Joesph but I bet most of those free agents are resigned/tagged. I'd like a new #3 and bump Brown to 4/5. If Adams really impresses then maybe he moves up to 3 but either way I'd like a CB to replace Clements for the future. He might only have 1 or 2 years left with us.
I just don't see guys like Ngata, Joesph, Woodley, Harris, etc being available. Steelers I think said they wouldn't resign Woodley but if he hits the market someone else with less FA's than us can give him top dollar. I think we end up just resigning our guys and calling it an off season.
Between Lawson, Franklin, Goldson, Smith, Wragge, Baas and McDonald we have our hands full. I'd like to resign...
Wragge or Baas
McDonald
Franklin or Lawson
Possibly Smith (depending on how this year goes)
Possibly Goldson (depending on how this year goes

Woodley, without a doubt YES, but not Champ. He is past his prime and will still be looking for serious jack. Pass!
