Early Look at 2011 FA

I have included pending FAs who have agreed or signed new deals with there 2010 team.

QB:

Troy Smith- 49ers veteran to start while groom rookie.

RB:

Brian Westbrook- 49ers veteran backup who should be cheap.

OL:

David Baas- 49ers cheap incentive laced deal only please

Logan Mankins- Patriots break the bank since Mankins is worth every penny

Tony Wragge- 49ers veteran who could play every position and above average backup at OG and C.
Barry Sims- 49ers possible resign depending on draft and Boone development

Davin Joseph- Buccaneers very big road grater. Has been huge for Tampa's running game since he stepped on the field. Joseph is everything our staff hoped Chilo would be. Won't be a cheap signing.

Max Jean-Giles- Eagles another big road grater that is a RB's best friend. Just look at LeSean McCoy production in Philly.

DT:

Shaun Rogers- Browns trying to sneak a gun onto a plane might lower his asking price. Being labeled a lazy trouble maker might be a good project for a motivator like Singeltary.

Haolti Ngata- Ravens break the bank since Ngata is worth every penny

Aubrayo Franklin- 49ers cheap incentive laced deal only please

DE:

Ray McDonald- 49ers a top priority to resign. Should be retained for cheap. Excellent situational player.

Robaire Smith- Browns upgrade over Evans?
Richard Seymour- Raiders big name player on the wrong side of 30. Doubt he leaves Oakland though.
Tamba Halli- Chiefs break the bank since Hali is worth every penny

LB:

Manny Lawson- 49ers cheap incentive laced deal only please
Ben Leber- Vikings might be another option if Spikes leaves. Wrong side of 30 might make him expendable in Minnesota. Has experience in 3-4 and coached by Manusky in San Diego.

LaMarr Woodley- Steelers break the bank since Woodley is worth every penny
Takeo Spikes- 49ers veteran backup to stick around until Bowman/McKillop/rookie can take over.
Shawne Merriman- Chargers maybe worth one more shot. Greg Manusky link.

CB:

Chris Houston- Lions
Eric Wright- Browns
Lito Sheppard- Vikings
Will Blackmon- Packers
Ellis Hobbs- Eagles
all decent nickle or dime CB's. Might even become starting candidates if team decides to part ways with Clements.

S:

Dashon Goldson- 49ers cheap incentive laced deal only please

Guys I think we could realistically sign/retain. I'm assuming the following situations:
1. Sing is still the head coach.
2. Blake (unlike McCloughan) will pay top dollar to guards.
3. Yorks will be open to spending big money on at least a couple big names.
3. No NFL lockout for 2011.
I think DeAngelo Williams hits the market.
Shaun Rogers is signed through 2013. No idea why hes listed as a FA.
I think we could sign 2 really good DBS in Joseph from the bengals and wright from the browns that would be a huge upgrade already. Really with all tue free agents next year we could solve alot of problems we have and fill alot of holes. Then go get luck, let's make it happen

Wright is awful. He looked decent his first few seasons but hes been burned every game this season and lost his job to Joe Haden. He was pretty pretty much responsible for T.O.'s 220 yard game early this year as well as giving up catch after catch to the Bills' slot receivers last week. Hes become a target for every QB week after week to pick on.
i think we'll sign alex back again and the way washington is acting with mcnabb he will be a free agent at the end of the year and we should go after him hard, which will be go

ehhh give him a shot with a performance incentive contract, dudes young and some cali weather and a change can possibly do him well. we got nothing to lose with our sorry ass secondary anyways, maybe he returns to form
Didn't realize Paul Soliai was having that great of a season. He is an upcoming free agent and according to rotoworld he will be in pretty high demand. He is only 26 years old and would be a great addition to our team (pending we stick with 3-4)

Quote:
Dolphins NT Paul Soliai, an impending free agent, is expected to be in high demand in 2011.
Originally penciled in as a backup to Randy Starks at the beginning of the season, Soliai has keyed a run defense that has allowed just 54.5 yard at 2.3 per carry over the past four games. At 6'4" and 355 pounds, he has ideal size for a 3-4 nose tackle. Pro Football Focus ranks Soliai as the 13th best interior lineman in the NFL this year.

I really doubt he hits the market, I bet he signs before March. Its pretty hard to find NT's these days, just look at us, no way did we let Franklin hit the Market.
some news for FA(If CBA is agreed upon of course).

Jets to tag(Franchise) David Harris, ILB
Panthers may not use Franchise Tag on DeAngelo Williams

and Redskins WR Santana Moss' contract will void Friday and become a UFA whenever a new CBA is agreed to.

WOULD'VE been in heaven. Brady re-signed and Ngata isn't going anywhere.
