If the 49ers were interested in this guy at all, it is very disappointing. I don't care if he IS a great return guy, what he has done in the past cannot be undone by just saying "I'm sorry." You can pull the arrow out of the wall but the hole still remains.
This story reminds me of the time Bill Walsh brought in Hollywood Henderson for a shot at the 49ers, on the premise that he had reformed and deserved another chance. Henderson turned out to be putting on a "nice boy" front but was still the same coke-head he had always been and was affecting other players on the team. Walsh dumped him immediately and swore never to take such a chance again. Walsh said that taught him a lesson about trying to give guys an extra chance that had so blatantly defied the law in the past.
Pacman fits that description.

He did show up. The guy who reported he didn't thought the work-out was happening at Tulane... he was wrong.

If we could sign him to a deal similar to the one he had in Dallas, it becomes a low risk move. From Wikipedia:
"Jones signed a four-year contract that included no signing bonus but included annual roster bonuses, and was structured in a way that would protect Dallas in the event that Jones made more off-field mistakes."

As much as I think this is a low risk signing, ugh no. This reminds me of signing lawrence phillips.

Get him in camp.the one thing Sing has shown to do well is mother troubled players. who know maybe pacman has some gas left in his tank that Sing might tap..wierder things have happened than turnarounds in a new system...randy moss..unfourtunatly we need db depth badly and must gamble and win inorder to fill all of our off season needs.

I'm hesitant about signing him too, but I wouldnt mind if we took a look at him during pre-season, if he displays signs of the same old F'd up behavior, then cut his ass loose and no biggie, but something tells me this guy will never change, Million dollar talent with a ten cent head

Think about PacMan as another A. Brooks or A. Boone, two kids with troubled pasts who can right the wrongs.
Why not PacMan as he would immediately fill our need for a RS and a CB to compete against Clements, Spencer, D. Bly and T. Brown. He would be an instant upgrade to our CB squad for sure.
This would allow us to concentrate on someone other than Haden and Spiller. Now we could look at RT and Graham, Thomas, D. Williams, or even Mays.
Pacman would be a nice addition to our team, IMO.
Certainly, our talent level would increase in two positions of need, RS/CB.

So we get Pacman, pass on Haden and Spiller then in 4 months he gets in another fight at a strip club then were f**ked again.
