Rumor has it that RFA Leon Washington to sign tender with 49ers (2nd Rd Pick)

I like it. Trade the 17th pick and a 4th rounder for Gaither and their 2nd and we are back in business with proven NFL starters.
yessssssssss !
if we bring him in and do all the physicals and whatnot and he passes and seems healthy, then I could be okay with it...but we'd better do extra homework on him before we offer anything.
Man if he's healthy, it's well worth it. That's just the problem who really knows?

Let's hope our brass has done enough homework. Washington will solve our PR/KR problem on special teams.
Anyone know if this is Denzel's kid?

No it's not lol. Denzels son is John David Washinngton (signed with the rams a couple years ago).

and jesus christ, bring him in and check that knee out before you sign him to anything

I'm sure they're talking escalotors and incentives. We have 2 first day picks to address the secondary.

Which is why I believe the Gaither & 2nd round pick is still in play for #17 and a swap of later picks.

where do you get those trade offer details? Is that from a rumor or did you just pull that out of the air?

yeah but look at kolohe's post, those are guys that would be great in the 2nd but probably reaches in the mid first , I want one of those safetys

If the niners want Washington, they should make it a 3rd or a 4th and a conditional pick in 2011 depending on his play. So I hope they try to work something out because I think the Jets would let him walk for a 2nd since they had trouble signing him before.

It's that rumor flying around. It does make sense though from the 49ers standpoint when you're trying to get proven young players to help them win now.

But I think the rumor is Gaither for the 17th pick. More than likely 49ers will want back a 2nd should this go down and throw in a later pick.

Well then I hope we can get Spiller but I doubt it. We really need a KR/PR.
If he passes the physical and will be ready for the start of training camp then this will be a good pick up. To get a very good returner and change of pace back for a second round should make us excited. Most of us would have been ok using our second round pick for good returner and a good back up in the draft, why should this be any different?
I would pass on Washington. Extremely risky move. The guys bone broke and was sticking out of his skin according to players and had to be rushed for immediate surgery. Why would we give up a second round pick for a guy that may take 2 years to be back at 100% when we can use that pick and get a healthy player? I like his talent but Im not fond of having to wait another year before we get a change of pace back for Gore.
