A report over the weekend from NFL Insider Adam Schefter confirmed what everyone had been speculating: the Cardinals will release Antrel Rolle, and he will emerge as one of the top free agents available this offseason. Schefter does note that the team will try to re-sign Rolle at a more economically-sound rate, as his near $12 million 2010 compensation was a bit too high for their liking.

One possibility for his next team? Coming home to South Florida to play for the Miami Dolphins. Rolle told the Miami Herald that he'd love to return to Miami -- he went to South Dade High and The U -- because "Miami is home for me." Other teams that might take a look include the Vikings, Bucs, Eagles, Chiefs and Bears. NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert breaks down the chances of Rolle winding up with the Bears, Vikings (and Lions) right here.

A very intriguing possibility is the Giants, who have said they'll play it conservative this free agency season, but who have a big need at safety. Beat writer Mike Garafolo tweeted that he's heard rumblings that the Giants really want Rolle.

Rumblings we've heard previously had Rolle's expected salary in the $8 million range per season (and Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune has word from a source confirming this figure), but with the possible lockout coming in 2011, teams might take a more conservative approach.
Isn't Randel El a pretty decent kick returner? Might not be a bad 5th WR/KR.
I'd take Rolle if he doesn't demand a huge contract.

All he does is fair catch punts. My coworker is a huge Skins fan and said the most exciting thing to happen this free agency is getting rid of Randel El.
