Haynesworth didn't help the skins bottom line much either. Most of the previous top paid DL FA's in the league are on losing teams, which seems to indicate you need to have a team that has most of it's other critical positions filled with adequate talent(like QB, oline etc) to start with in order to get a good return on your investment. You really are mortgaging your future when you give up your 1st round picks to acquire talent in the FA market.

The chickenhawks gave up their 1st for Deion Branch after he dominated in the SB. He hasn't amounted to s**t even though he appeared to be a sure bet for them and it has set them back big time. Point being, even the surest of surefire ain't so surefire.

If a team is going to give up a 1st rounder, I think it needs to be for an olineman, those positions seem to be the safest bets and provide the biggest value/return on investment, provided they don't have an injury history and they are young enough still. You can get a lot of mileage out of young, healthy FA Olineman.....if they establish themselves and hold up well through their 1st contract they tend to repeat that for quite a few years, regardless of team, IMHO.

If this did happen, it probably would not happen until draft day. It would depend on which OL have been drafted already, hence if all of McC's first round OL are taken, he may consider trading the pic for something.

Free Agency for RFAs ends before draft day so if they were going to give up a draft pick it would have to happen before then. Last day of restricted free agency is April 15 and April 21 is the last day that teams have to match offers
I don't think so yet. Mcloc needs one more draft to see what he's got. And I'm not a patience person, so that's saying a lot for me.. This is his last stand. so give him all the picks we can.

except we woud have to give our 1st first round pick. it has to be your own pick.

I do not understand.

Are saying we can not trade a pick if we obtained that pick through a trade?

If you are, I think that you are wrong.

Do have anything to back-up your claim?

edit. forgot the not in the bolded section. sorry.

Brandon Mashall please. He's easily one of the most dominant WRs in the NFL... and he's still young.

Yeah, it's not a comp pick. Can't trade a comp pick.

Players I'd consider trading for

Gaither--1st round
Bethea--1st round
Boldin--3rd round (Cardinals are reportedly looking for a 3rd for him)

That's about it. I'd have to think twice on Bethea since we can go get Atogwe without giving up a draft pick.

Boldin for a 3rd?! That seems a little low... Crabtree, Boldin, Morgan? I would love that line-up. Draft Spiller too. So it's Gore/Spiller/Crabtree/Boldin/Morgan.

The Cardinals would not let a division rival have Anquan Boldin for a third round pick. Just because they're willing to let him go for a 3rd rounder doesn't mean they'd give him to us for a 3rd rounder. I can't believe that they are that stupid.

I can't believe the cards could have gotten a 1st a year ago and kept him. Now they want to jettison him for a 3rd. Way to go management.

Well in all fairness they did have a shot at going back to the SB last season, they still had Warner. Now they pretty much are on the path to rebuilding if Leinart doesn't pan out.

Yeah, it's not a comp pick. Can't trade a comp pick.

It isn't a comp pick, though--it's a pick obtained in a previous trade which makes it our property to do with as we please, right? I'll be damned if I can't find this rule online....
