The only one who would do something that stupid is Al Davis and unfortunately Baas runs a terrible 40 time.

Baas can't pull or zone block worth a crap, not to mention, he can't stay healthy either. We'll probably be stuck with him though, unless he's cut. I don't think he'll draw much interest but I'd love to have an extra 2nd rounder.

This would be a great pickup in a weak FA market.

Neal is an upgrade to either Baas or Rachal in pass protection.

I think he's overrated and way too old for my taste. If he is cheap (which I doubt), then I'd be happy to sign him for 1-2 years. Otherwise, draft a guard.

Plus, I think he's only 33! For a guard, that's not too bad. He still has some tread on the tires.

Faneca was 32 last year and he worked out just fine for the jets.

Larry Allen retired when he was 35 ..I wouldnt mind having Neal for another 2 years like what he had with larry Allen..
I know theyre totally different types of guards...but they play the same position and are around the same age..

No he is overrated, and so is Faneca at this stage of his career. NE has NEVER been able to run the ball well no matter who they put back there. Brady makes a line look better than they are also in pass blocking.

No he is overrated, and so is Faneca at this stage of his career. NE has NEVER been able to run the ball well no matter who they put back there. Brady makes a line look better than they are also in pass blocking.

A lot of that is based on play calling and not the o line's inefficiency to run block. All the Pats RB's since Curtis Martin have been below average. then you factor in the fact they they are way too pass happy. The o lineman never get a chance to get into a groove regarding the running game b/c they barely run the ball. Just like the Eagles. I think he's a a good guard and a definite step over Chilo and Baas. I wouldn't break the bank for him but I would pay him the going rate.

I agree with the people saying New England's line is severly overrated. They can't run the football whatsoever, and they operate mostly out of the Shotgun because their line is just not that great. It's really fallen off since Damien Woody left. Remember when Brady got hurt they gave up 45 sacks as well.

That and I'm pretty comfortable with Rachal at RG this season. He was up and down, but at some point we actually have to try and develop these 2nd round guards. We let Smiley go and he's doing great in Miami, we're about to give up on Baas, and now people are already giving up on Rachal.
