Draft a OT or Sign a Free Agent?

it is completely apparent that the Guard positions are safe as Baas isn't going anywhere and Singletary likes Chilo...the two top tackles will likely be gone before we select in the draft....so fill the RT issue in FA and get some good play makers out of the 1st round..

lol wait, so were going to draft a top tier T and sign a f/a T? wheres Staley playing?

Staley just got a fat longterm deal, so i highly doubt we spend big money on a 1st round T and a f/a T in the same offseason.

Where does he say he's going to draft an OT and sign a FA OT in the same offseason?

Draft. The only one in recent memory we have signed in FA that didn't get hurt or s****d (or both) has been Sims, and there were times he didn't look very good.

I mean Jennings, Smith, Pashos......I don't know I'd rather build from within.

Larry Allen was a good pick up for a few years.

I would spend the picks on signing Colon or Gaithier once restricted. I would rather spend picks on a proven comodity rather then one with potential.

Draft the Tackle and Free agent the guard....takles cost to much in free agency for what you get.

Yup

I just hope we fill one of our major needs with a big free agent (return man, OT, or CB). That being said, I would like it to be an OT, therefore we can draft like a 2-3rd round rookie OT that can sit for a year or two. If we land a free agent OT that proves to be a franchise player, then we can go for a big DE and return man in the first round.

OT is our biggest need by far...

The bottom line is it is better to get your needs in free agency if at all possible because the players are proven and the draft, especially the early rounds, should be focused on boosting talent regardless of position. I can guarantee some amazing players fall to us at 13 and 16/17. If we could fill our needs through FA and go into the draft with nothing but extra credit the team would be a lot better off.

CBA situation. So probably not
possible. Oh, we can pick up some old crocks, sure. But some of us would like to see a quality line built. One that will last and, as lines do, get better as they play together.

I missed this one first time around. "The guard positions are safe." umm!! This is some strange new use of the word "safe" I have never come across!! Safe is getting Baas and Rachal starting next year and no new blood. Safe!

The biggest reason Buffalo let Jennings go was his injuries. Marvel Smith had a huge back problem before signing. Pashos was the only one that really didnt have a history of injuries before signing with the Niners, but Jacksonville had already pushed him inside to Guard when he was there which tells me he was not all that great with them as a tackle.

That is just the FO trying not to spend big dollars on a right tackle. In fact, McLoughan has shown he doesnt like spending a lot of money on any position on the line other than Staley's contract.

IMO they should sign a top guard in FA, hopefully Logan Mankins, and then draft a right tackle. That would solidify the line with young players, but also give a good mix of veteran experience.

This is my dream also, I say even after signing Mankins I would want a T and another G in the 1st 2 rounds of the draft. If Baas comes back I only want him back as a reserve.
