Someone please explain the CBA to me

The CBA or Collecttive Bargaining Agreement, is a pact between the Owners and Players Assoiation. In which they have a cap, revenue sharing, etc...

While during an uncapped yr, their is No Salary Cap, FA's to be have to wait 6 yrs to become Unrestricted, if not over 6yrs, they are RFA's and are tendered contracts, and can be kept no matter what the offer, the team makes that player.

Also under an uncapped yr, there is a final 8 rule, where the they are restricted from signing FA's, the final 8 are like the final 8 standing in the playoffs. And then the final 4 standing, are restricted from adding any UFA unless it is to replace a player lost.

Hope this helped.
Dont worry, a deal will get done. If not, the owners may lock the players out!

What does it mean as far as resigning our own players? We could give lengthy extensions to Willis/Davis and not worry about a cap? What happens when they come to an agreement? Could those lofty extensions hurt us?

Sounds to me like one of the few drawbacks to having an uncapped year is there will be less FA's available. Is this true?

It's absolutely true, there will be a LOT less to choose from in the FA market. We are allowed to go after RFAs, but if we were able to sign them without their current team matching our offer, we would have to send that team a draft pick or multiple draft picks depending on how that player is tendered.

As far as signing our current players is concerned, it shouldn't hurt us too much, because we can structure contracts to front-load so we can get rid of a large amount of guaranteed money right away so it doesn't hurt us down the road.

If their is an uncapped yr, best thing to do is front load yr 1, and give Willis a 10M Roster Bonus and Vernon say a 5M Roster Bonus, so if their is ever a cap again, no need to worry about cap hell again.

pretty much the deadline is March 1st, or Feb 27th, whenever the new league yr begins.
It is just a way for a bunch of millionaires to fight over millions of dollars.

The other thing about an uncapped year is that players would need to have be in the league 6 years and be unsigned in order to be an unrestricted free agent, rather thanthe 4 years in a capped year. So that means alot fo the young good players like Sproles, and Mankins become restricted free agents instead.

Who made the rules about the uncapped yr? Did the players union agree to this? Seems like if there is no agreement, than all free agents should be unrestricted but this isn't the case...
