A.Smith and Shaun Hill run at least a mile every game that they've played in , in the pocket alone! Not even Joe Montana could survive in an offense where you have to run for your life every game.

I'm so sick of it. Year in and year out. Our offense sucks ass unless we do some mass protect. Why ? Because the qb's have to run for their lives, do quick throws without getting them tipped or knocked down etc.

If we plan to be a pass first team, we must protect this houuuuse!

Steve could

But to support your post. Yes I too think that we have priorities in the coming off season. A respectable overhaul of the o-line AND the secondary. Any belief that we are one CB away from stability there is reckless. We lose big plays because of our poor secondary.

Steve Young had a great line.

but to add to the thread. You nailed it, the OLine needs to be addressed as well as the OLine coach.
This upcoming draft could produce a few starters for us. I have been defending the possibility of drafting o-line with both of our picks in the 1st round. Anthony Davis from Rutgers who could play RT and Mike Iupati from Idaho who's a mauler at the guard position.

With our 2nd round pick, we would be lucky to pick up Brandon Graham, a pass rushing terror out of Michigan. If not, I wouldn't mind taking a risk on Shawne Merriman as a free agent. I believe a new team would help revive his career. Plus, he and Vernon are close friends and could help each other be more competitive.

not to mention Merriman and Manusky are very familiar with eachother.

Exactly. Merriman would do us wonders especially since this is the 2nd year after his knee injury.
K. I'm with you. New line 2010! We're only... 5 years into our losing ways to find a coach that seems to get that this is an area of HUGE concern.

I would be ok with signing Merriman but I am not so high on any OLB comin out of college. If Dunlap was to fall to the second round cause of his arrest I would be fine but I don't see that happening. I want to see all offense taken in the first round.

Start the CJ Spiller and a OT in RD 1 fan club. Then a CB, if Dunlap is gone, in round 2 sounds good right now. Sign Logan Mankins to play left guard and I am pretty sure our O would be top 10 or atleast 15 next year.

I repeat if he is on the board DRAFT CJ SPILLER PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE. He solves our return man and third down back needs right away. Plus he becomes the Gore replacement that we all know we will soon need but no one wants to talk about lol.

Dunlap would play D-E in our 3-4 and not OLB. There are a lot of very good OLBs coming out in this upcoming draft. Jerry Hughes, Brandon Graham, Von Miller, Eric Norwood just to name a few.

I do agree that CJ Spiller would be a great selection and I have to admit that I was in the "Draft CJ Spiller" bandwagon at one point, but after watching our game against Detroit, I truly believe that we have to focus on o-line in the first.
Totally agree. Not only would the QB have better time to throw but the running lanes and holes would improve the ground game which opens up more passing and on and on.

I'm not opposed to darfting Spiller but I'm completely opposed to not fixing the Oline this year - whatever it takes; draft, trade or FA. We have to fix the Oline this year.

And that's why Steve is better than Joe!

I honestly wouldn't mind if our first 3 picks went to the o line. I would just be pissed if they turn out to suck down the road.

Our oline is the only (yes, the ONLY) reason we didn't make the payoffs. If we could get a return man too we could maybe do some damage.

I love the idea of drafting OL with both our 1st round picks but that only means we're going to need to over pay for DB's and I don't know if we can get 2 high quality DB's in FA. Therefore we need to sign 1-2 OL in FA and either a DB or a passrusher as well. Then you draft what your not able to pickup in FA, with our many holes on the OL i'm sure at least 1 first round pick will be an OL.
Two OL in the first round? Negative. One at most. It depends where the picks end up anyway. Most likely out of the top ten.

Agree, don't care how it gets done, it must be done!
