i'll take bush. He can open things up a lot in the passing game, he might suck running the ball but he is almost unstoppable when you throw him the ball in the flat and that will only help VD and Crabs get more single coverage.

Both will be FAs in 2010, and both fit our new system better than Gore. Sproles splits time with LT in a pass-happy offense -- why cant he split time w/ Gore? Same for Bush.
Or, we trade Gore and sign a draw-play/spread back.
We are better off moving away from the spread and keeping gore than vice versa
Yesss!!! Dump Smith already! He can't handle a real NFL offense. (IE one where he gets the snap under center.)
maybe you should try watching the games more... lets go back to the shaun hill, looks like a 5 yard punt offense!!! championship!!!

Either player would help the team if the team decides that we keep Smith as the starter.Even if we get one of the two we should not send Gore packing. No running back would do anything behind our line. I have confidence that this team will add some players to our offensive line and when we do, Gore wil run crazy if we come out in spread formations. There will be plenty of holes to penetrate. Hell, lets have two backs, Gore and Sproles/Bush, VD, and Crabtree on a play and see ANYONES defense try to defend that!

Bush is better for the spread and Alex and Reggie played together here in S.D. in high school. Sproles is probably a better return man but he is a tiny little guy and doesn't provide much other value IMO. If Reggie is healthy and utilized properly in the correct offense I still feel he can be a real good player.

If we're going to taylor the team around Alex Smith, we absolutely should get Reggie Bush. First of all, Alex and Reggie have chemistry together already. Secondly, we've only been running inside the tackles since Frank Gore became the starter. We get Bush, and it'll be as different as night and day, or Al and Dubya. Gore can still pound it up the middle, but Bush will be able to take pitches and sweep. Jesus, when was the last time the Niners ran a sweep? The only time we ever run to the edge is on reverse handoffs.
Bush would be a great screen option, short dump-off plays with massive YAC potential. If he can stay healthy, he would be a big addition to our offense. Then all we would need is to address the o-line and our defensive secondary. Perhaps we could use an upgrade at the OLB position as well. Parys is not the guy we hoped he would be.
Should we go after Taylor Mays if Eric Berry is not available? Or go for a RT?

There isn't anything that Bush does better than Sproles. This is a no brainer, Sproles has better production with less touches and none of the ego.

Catch the ball. He does it better than any RB, starter or backup. That is what our team is doing right now and if we get a passing threat like Bush who is dangerous when he catches it, it will only help our offense.

Really? Sproles has more catches for more yards, more TDs and a much higher YPC avg this year. Last year Sproles had numbers that were close with far fewer opportunities, and scored more TDs, his avg per everything is better also. Oh Bush has been injured you say? Exactly. Bush had a decent rookie year because they forced the ball to him. His numbers have been declining since, Sproles have gone up. There really is no comparison here.

Sproles is everything that Bush was suppose to be in the pros
Bush is probably a better receiver than Sproles but other than that there's no debate.
Sproles>Bush

in what universe is Frank Gore all of a sudden not good enough for this team?
I'd rather have Sproles than Bush, but I don't think we'll go after either of them if they're even available.
