The problem that we have run into is that a team can have the 2nd or 3rd most points at the end of the season, but miss the playoffs because they were unlucky in who the played week to week and end up with a bad record.

we all love the weekly competitiveness of head to head, but want to somehow get rid of the aforementioned problem... does anybody have any ideas?

my idea was some kind of system where you can 2 points for a win, and 1 point for getting over a certain number of points in week (maybe 100). So 3 points are possible per week, and if you score 130 pts, but lose, you still get something.

side note: we are also considering making teams start 2 qbs. anybody tried that?

I don't like starting 2 qb's. Never did. Just don't seem fair.

As for your original question how about start the playoffs 1 week earlier. top 6 teams make the playoffs plus the top scorer from the rest of the teams. Then the #1 team gets a bye during the 1st week. With the remaining 6 battling it out.

week 14
#1 seed/bye

#2/#7
#3/#6
#4/#5

week 15

#1/ #4 or #5

winner of #2/#7 matchup and #3/#6 matchup

week 16

championship game.

Krizay: Very cool idea! like a wild card almost?! Even if you didnt want to extend the playoffs, you could do top 4 records plus 2 wildcards...
