When Jim Harbaugh was hired, champagne was uncorked. When Jim Tomsula was hired, a collective groan infested Twitter. Chip Kelly announced as the new head coach of the 49ers? Emotionally charged might be the most accurate way to describe fan reaction. "Players don't like him." "Finally, someone who can save Kap!" "He's a weirdo." "This is exactly what our offense needs." "His scheme has been exposed and defense is a foreign concept to him." Regardless of your take on the hire, no one can blame Jed York and Trent Baalke for being...

Once the reality of separation set in for most 49ers fans, it was too late. Jim Harbaugh was on on a plane. Jed York was planning a press conference. Jim Tomsula was trying on ties. The argument for/against Jim Harbaugh's coaching tenure is moot. He's been gone for five weeks (longer depending on who you're speaking to) and there's no turning back. Jim Tomsula has experienced a tidal wave of reaction since earning the head coaching job. From plucky, player-friendly defensive line coach to the head of class hasn't gone without a couple of hiccups. Jed York wanted a teacher. I think Tomsula fits that description. But does teaching win games? I guess we'll see. What of his staff, fans...

Is firing Greg Roman going to solve this team's offensive woes? Yes. Wait, no. Maybe? Greg Roman is a "trusted agent" of Jim Harbaugh. The game plans, the play calling, the 2014 offensive strategy as we've seen unfold has Harbaugh's fingerprints all over it. It could be argued that Harbaugh and Roman may be the closest companions this side of York & Baalke. As a rabid fan base calls for blood and an owner tweets from above, Jim Harbaugh does not flinch. I wonder if Cassie Baalke ruined her Dad's firing plans? Make no mistake; the 49ers actually believed they could beat the Seahawks with the same game plan they've trotted out since Week One. "Four receiver sets and a pass heavy scheme to show off our new...

I've always hated the bye week. I know it sounds selfish, but I don't care. Greed is good. I suppose it stems from childhood, long before fantasy leagues invaded my life, but one week without watching the 49ers has always made for a lackluster Sunday. The players can have their rest and recuperation. I guess I'll just sit here and reflect. At a bar. Alone. As I look ahead to the 49ers final nine games of the 2014 season I've zeroed in on eight men that will have a fair to fairly enormous impact on where the team finishes. Those names in particular order: 8. Vernon Davis There's an old Proverb that says, "When Davis doesn't play, the 49ers lose." That adage is clearly an ancient text. While...

Jim Harbaugh is the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. Brady Hoke is still the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines. David Shaw has not left his current position as head coach of the Stanford Cardinal. These are facts (surprise!), and no matter what you hear or read this week those truths will not change. Well I can't guarantee the second one will last long as Big Blue wanted to give away tickets with the purchase of a Diet Sprite. "Harbaugh Watch" got an earlier than expected start, when San Jose Mercury News' Tim Kawakami posted...
