The San Francisco 49ers have officially signed offensive lineman Austen Pleasants to the one-year, $1.075 million exclusive-rights free agent tender he was offered in February, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Pleasants, who joined the 49ers late in the 2024 season and re-signed ahead of the 2025 campaign, remains under team control as an exclusive-rights free agent. That designation applies to players with fewer than three accrued NFL seasons who receive a qualifying offer from their original team, effectively preventing them from negotiating with other clubs.
An undrafted free agent out of Ohio University in 2020, Pleasants originally signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and has since spent time with multiple teams, including the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers, Chicago Bears, and Arizona Cardinals—primarily on practice squads.
During the 2025 season, Pleasants saw the most extensive action of his career. He appeared in 15 games for the 49ers, making one start while playing 125 offensive snaps. According to Pro Football Focus, he allowed just one sack and did not commit a penalty.
Across his NFL career, Pleasants has appeared in 20 games, with the bulk of his playing time coming in 2025 after limited action before that.
For the 49ers, retaining Pleasants adds continued depth and versatility to the offensive line heading into the 2026 offseason program.
