Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers DL Joe Cohen missed practice Wednesday, June 20, because of personal reasons.

DL Ronald Fields (elbow) returned to practice Wednesday, June 20. Fields suffered a hyperextended Tuesday, June 19, and left practice.

Defensive end Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah worked out for the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, but left the team's facility in Santa Clara without a contract, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The NFL insider noted that the two sides were unable to agree on a deal. The #49ers visit with free agent pass-rusher Ziggy Ansah is over, source said. 49ers place Deebo Samuel on injured reserve, will miss at least 3 games; promote 2 from practice squad

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that the team has placed Deebo Samuel on injured reserve. The move will force the second-year wide receiver to miss at least three games under the NFL's new injured-reserve rules, meaning the earliest he would be available is for Week 4 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Samuel has not practiced with the team since suffering a Jones fracture in June. Head coach Kyle Shanahan had hoped that the receiver would be available for the team's Week 1 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, but the 49ers never cleared Samuel to practice this week.
