49ers optimistic Gore will have new contract by start of the season

In case you missed the small blurb from yesterday's Sacramento Bee article:

McCloughan said this week that contract negotiations with running back Frank Gore were "going good." Despite reports that the two sides are far apart, McCloughan said he is optimistic Gore would have a long-term deal in place by the start of the season.

"We want to show that we are willing to take care of our guys," he said.

Gore is entering the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make $435,000 in base salary. Calls to Gore's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, were not returned.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Monday that San Francisco 49ers running back Tevin Coleman is expected to miss "multiple weeks" with a knee sprain. While head coach Kyle Shanahan said running back Raheem Mostert is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's game against the New York Giants, his prognosis doesn't appear to be as dire. Kyle Shanahan says Nick Mullens will start vs. Giants, provides injury updates on George Kittle, other 49ers

It will be Nick Mullens at quarterback on the MetLife Stadium field when the San Francisco 49ers face the New York Giants on Sunday.
