By Sasha D. Robinson
Jan 12

The San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys will begin a new chapter of their historic playoff rivalry. The two teams will meet at AT&T Stadium on January 16. The 49ers and Cowboys could arguably be considered one of the greatest rivalries of all time. It includes over 31 NFL Hall of Famers that either played, coached, or worked in the front office during the time of the rivalry. Out of the seven times the two teams have met, the winner went on to win the Super Bowl five times. On December 23, 1972, the Cowboys scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter of the Divisional round matchup for a 30-28 comeback victory over the 49ers. Unlike "rivalries" like the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots in the 2000s, the 49ers and Cowboys

The topic came up during an interview with Shanahan this week with 49ers play-by-play radio announcer Greg Papa when Papa brought up rookie Trey Lance's strength in throwing deep, which was on display in his start against the Houston Texans last Sunday. Shanahan said Lance's deep ball ability "helps a ton" on offense but also said Garoppolo doesn't deserve some of the criticism he's been give in that area. "I do think that's something Jimmy unfairly gets criticized for because Jimmy can throw the ball as far as anyone I've had," Shanahan said. "Some

The San Francisco 49ers are playoff bound once again after a thrilling overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers trailed 17-0 late in the second quarter but came away with three points to end the half. With the 49ers dealing with their quarterback situation all season, fans were hollering to see Trey Lance after the Niners laid an egg in that first half. Like head coach Kyle Shanahan has done all season though, he stuck with his guy Jimmy Garoppolo, and he would lead the 49ers to one of their most exciting victories to date. San Francisco would answer back with a 75-yard scoring drive after halftime, a forded punt on the Rams ensuing possession, and another scoring drive to tie the game at 17. The defense came up huge with two turnovers in the second half, one
