49ers place Shaun Draughn on IR

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that they have placed RB Shaun Draughn (knee) on IR, ending his season.

Draughn was injured during the 49ers' Week 15 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Due to the injury to RB Carlos Hyde, Draughn was signed by the 49ers on November 2.

To to take his place, the team has claimed TE Je'Ron Hamm from the Washington Redskins.

The San Francisco 49ers have placed newly signed practice squad wide receiver Devin Funchess on injured reserve, per the NFL transaction wire and first reported by NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The 49ers announced Funchess' signing on November 24. The Carolina Panthers made Funchess a second-round draft pick in 2015. Throughout his six-year career with the Panthers (2015-18), Indianapolis Colts (2019), and Green Bay Packers (2020), he has appeared in 62 games with 41 starts and registered 164 receptions for 2,265 yards and 21 touchdowns. On Wednesday, the San Francisco 49ers signed safety Doug Middleton to the practice squad. One day later, the team placed him on the injured reserve list. The situation has prompted the 49ers to re-sign safety Kai Nacua to the practice squad. San Francisco released Nacua on Wednesday as part of a move to make room on the practice squad for Middleton and linebacker Justin March. The 49ers initially signed Nacua to the practice squad on November 24, 2020. He spent part of last season on the active roster and signed a one-year extension to remain with the team on February 11. Carlos Dunlap's hand may have been all that stopped the San Francisco 49ers from scoring on their final play during their 30-23 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The 49ers had the ball on a 4th-and-Goal with seconds to play when quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo spotted wide receiver Trent Sherfield open near the end zone.
