Streak Ends: 49ers score first offensive TD in 1st quarter

Dec 27, 2015 at 10:18 AM--

The San Francisco 49ers long and painful streak of no offensive touchdowns during the first quarter is finally over. QB Blaine Gabbert passed to TE Vance McDonald for a 1-yard touchdown to cap off an 11-play, 80-yard drive on Sunday against the Lions in Detroit.

The scoring drive gave the 49ers an early 7-0 lead over the Lions. The scoring drought had gone back to December of 2014.

Peter King names 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo among his Offensive Players of the Week

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had a pretty good bounce-back game against the Los Angeles Rams after an embarrassingly poor two quarters of play a week earlier. The 49ers passer finished the game 23-of-33 for 268 yards with three touchdowns. Each of those scores, by the way, was hauled in by three different players. In fact, Garoppolo did a good job of getting everyone involved in the passing game. Eight different players caught at least one pass, with All-Pro tight end George Kittle leading the way with seven receptions for 109 yards and a score. Garoppolo's performance was enough to impress Peter King of NBC Sports, who named the 49ers quarterback among his Offensive Players of the Week. "For a slumping and gimpy Garoppolo, Sunday

49ers-Patriots: Bill Belichick respects Kyle Shanahan's "great offensive mind," Niners' defense

By David Bonilla

Kyle Shanahan has Bill Belichick's respect. The New England Patriots coach respects his San Francisco 49ers counterpart so much that he was willing to send quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, once seen as Tom Brady's heir apparent, to the 49ers in 2017. Belichick last faced a Shanahan offense in Super Bowl LI. He'll see it again on Sunday when the 49ers travel to Foxborough to play the Patriots. "Kyle's got a great offensive mind," Belichick told 49ers reporters via a conference call on Monday. "He really knows how to attack and stress a defense, and put the defense in a lot of compromising positions with his formations and play-calling, and most importantly, a high level of execution that his teams have always shown running the ball, throwing the ball, playing

49ers vs. Rams - Keys to Victory and Score Prediction

By Matt Andruscavage
Oct 17, 2020

At 2-3, this is not where most fans and analysts thought the San Francisco 49ers would be. It has been a season filled with injuries and a lot of poor execution. With the Rams (4-1) coming to town, the 49ers are facing a must-win situation in order to salvage this season. A loss would give San Francisco an abysmal 2-4 record, three conference losses, two division losses, and would likely spell the end of the 2020 season, given the amount of difficult opponents on the horizon. A win would put the 49ers back in the race and right the ship for at least a week as more players make their ways back from injury. The injury news continues to be a mix of good and bad. Kwon Alexander was believed to be out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain and while he will
