Ryan Sakamoto of Niner Fans reported late Tuesday night that San Francisco 49ers LB Michael Wilhoite suffered a stress fracture and will head to the injured reserve list.
On Monday, 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula stated that Wilhoite was getting an MRI. Wilhoite was injured during the first quarter of Sunday's overtime win against the Bears in Chicago. He had been nursing an ankle injury during the previous week. Following the injury, Wilhoite appeared to be shaken up, but was able to get off the field under his own power. He was replaced by LB Gerald Hodges.
Latest on Wilhoite's injury is that this 'sress fracture' will now end his season. He will be placed on season-ending IR. Jarryd Hayne time?
On Tuesday, TE Garrett Celek was placed on injured reserve, ending his season as well. He had suffered a high ankle sprain against the Arizona Cardinals and missed Sunday's game in Chicago. His roster spot was replaced by LB Shayne Skov.
Wilhoite has 85 tackles and one interception this season.
