Earlier in the game, San Francisco 49ers DE Quinton Dial collided with LB NaVorro Bowman, who was forced to leave the field to be checked for a concussion. Bowman returned to the game in the second half against the Chicago Bears.

Dial impacted another teammate in the third quarter. This time, it was LB Aaron Lynch, who is also being checked for a concussion. Lynch was taken into the locker room for evaluation and is questionable to return.

TE Vance McDonald also left the game with a possible concussion and has been ruled out. LB Michael Wilhoite is also out with an ankle injury.

Defensive end Nick Bosa hit a setback in his development. The reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year suffered a torn ACL during Week 2 against the New York Jets. Who knows what kind of difference Bosa's presence might have made for the struggling San Francisco 49ers? They probably would have more than just two wins at this point. Among the most impressive facets of the back-to-back wins the 49ers have posted against the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots over the past two weeks has been the play of their defense, which has been able to shine even without seven projected starters due to injury. The 49ers have been banged up on the defensive line for most of the season, with Nick Bosa (torn ACL), Solomon Thomas (torn ACL), and Dee Ford (back) among those who have been on the sidelines. They've also been without cornerback Richard Sherman, who has been out since mid-September due to a calf injury. More recently, the defense has lost linebacker Kwon Alexander (ankle), safety Jimmie Ward (quad), and safety Jaquiski Tartt (groin). And yet, the 49ers have been able to persevere due to the
