Ashley Lelie expected to sign with Texans or 49ers

According to ProFootballTalk.com, free agent receiver Ashley Lelie is expected to sign with either the Houston Texans of the San Francisco 49ers in the next couple of days. The Falcons and Vikings are also said to be interested.

Last year, Lelie, a first-round pick by the Broncos in 2002, was traded to the Falcons after asking to leave Denver.

The San Francisco 49ers defense will see a familiar foe on Sunday in Detroit. The team will open its season against quarterback Jared Goff and the Lions. 49ers-Lions: Emmanuel Moseley and Javon Kinlaw not expected to play

The San Francisco 49ers could be without two defensive starters when they take the field in a couple of hours against the Detroit Lions. Neither cornerback Emmanuel Moseley nor defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw is expected to play. According to Matt Barrows of The Athletic, both are undergoing some pre-game rehab leading to kickoff. The San Francisco 49ers announced three practice squad players being protected this week as the team prepares for its Week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions. They are wide receiver Travis Benjamin, quarterback Nate Sudfeld, and cornerback Dee Virgin. Benjamin could provide the 49ers with some punt return flexibility heading into Sunday's game. Sudfeld could be insurance in case rookie Trey Lance is unavailable. Lance suffered a chipped bone in the index finger of his throwing hand during San Francisco's preseason finale.
