49ers-Rams: Kyle Shanahan expects some players on the COVID-19 list to miss Sunday's game

Today, the San Francisco 49ers activated defensive lineman Arik Armstead and center Hroniss Grasu off the reserve/COVID-19 list. Still, seven players remain on the list, putting their statuses for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams in jeopardy. Kyle Shanahan informed reporters before today's practice that he doesn't expect Sunday's game to be postponed, as was the case for the Thanksgiving matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. 49ers' Hroniss Grasu and Joe Walker join Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw on the reserve/COVID-19 list

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that two more players — center Hroniss Grasu and linebacker Joe Walker — have joined defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw on the reserve/COVID-19 list. That adds up to 11 49ers players who have landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list this year, and the fourth this week. Armstead landed on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Monday. Contact tracing resulted in Kinlaw landing on the list on Wednesday. The 49ers have been working remotely this week but plan to hold a practice on Friday. Beginning Saturday, every NFL team will be required to operate under the league's intensive protocol

Jerry Rice thinks 49ers QB C.J. Beathard's deep throw vs. Saints was laughably off-target

Can the San Francisco 49ers pass the football deep downfield? Are they capable of it? Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice wonders that. A lot of fans wonder that too. The team certainly doesn't take a lot of deep shots against opposing defenses. They took one on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, though, and it did not go well. Wide receiver Richie James had Saints safety Marcus Williams beat deep. Niners quarterback C.J. Beathard, out of the shotgun, threw the football toward the open receiver. "Toward."
