Norv Turner discusses interview with Cowboys

Jan 28, 2007 at 5:03 PM--

Following his interview for the head coach job with the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator spoke with the media.

"The first thing is, it was really exciting for me. It’s the first time I’ve been in this building since I was apart of this organization many years ago. We talked a little bit about everything, it’s a great opportunity, its one of the great organizations in all of sports. I had a chance to visit with Jerry and get a real good idea of what he’s thinking,” Turner said.

When asked about being the front runner for the job, Turner said, “I think the guys who have come in and talked are very qualified. I want a chance to come in and talk and I know what Jerry is looking for and its certainly as big a decision as you can make. I’m excited I had a chance to visit.”

Turner also spoke with former Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells regarding the current Cowboys players and where they are at. The Cowboys have not yet made a decision and Turner has already started heading back to the Bay Area.

Multiple sources within the Dallas media have already stated that Turner is the leading candidate for the Cowboys' head coaching job and that he will most likely receive an offer sometime tomorrow.

On Friday, the 49ers made a lucrative bid to retain Turner as their offensive coordinator. Details of that offer have not been made available.

Kyle Shanahan discusses the ups and downs of the 49ers' injury-plagued season

By David Bonilla
Nov 13, 2020

"Injury-plagued" probably doesn't begin to describe what the San Francisco 49ers have gone through this season. Injury-ravaged? Snake-bitten? Cursed? Whatever you want to call it, head coach Kyle Shanahan knows it is unprecedented. Just look at the different sets of offensive weapons he's had available from week to week this season. It's a challenge to find consecutive games during which San Francisco has enjoyed consistency on the depth chart. That has made it difficult for the 49ers to maintain chemistry and build upon any momentum. "I thought we had that going a little bit at the Rams week into the New England week," Shanahan said on KNBR's Tolbert, Krueger & Brooks show. "That was about three weeks in a row where we got Deebo

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch joined KNBR this morning. He provided some details on the recovery of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who is dealing with his second high-ankle sprain this season. There was the fear that he might require surgery, which would end his season. However, after much discussion with experts, it doesn't sound like surgery will be necessary. Lynch shared what Garoppolo, the team, and foot surgeon Robert B. Anderson concluded. "I think the most encouraging thing was that his recommendation, which was in line with our orthopedist, was that he didn't need surgery right now ... Right now, we're going to leave it alone, we're going to give it some time to kind of settle down, and then start to ramp him back up. "At that

49ers rookie Brandon Aiyuk discusses the frustration of being sidelined vs. Packers

By David Bonilla
Nov 13, 2020

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk spent last week on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Because of the shortened week due to a Thursday-night game against the Green Bay Packers, Aiyuk didn't have enough time to be cleared to play. He was cleared the next morning, though. Of course, San Francisco had already suffered a 34-17 defeat. Aiyuk and two others were sidelined due to close contact with wide receiver Kendrick Bourne, who tested positive for the virus — and did so again this week before being cleared again today. Aiyuk and the others — Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams — never actually tested positive for COVID-19. Williams has already
