Harris added to Pro Bowl roster

Matt Maiocco of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat is reporting Niners CB Walt Harris has been officially added to the NFC Pro Bowl team, replacing injured Eagles CB Lito Sheppard, who sustained a dislocated elbow in the Eagles' wild-card playoff game.

This will be Harris' first trip to the Pro Bowl, and obviously much-deserved. Earlier this month he was chosen to the All-NFC team, as selected by the Pro Football Writers of America and Pro Football Weekly.

Harris tied for the NFC lead with eight interceptions. He also broke up 17 passes, forced five fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

He was NFC defensive player of the month for November, and was NFC defensive player of the week for his play in the final game of the season against the Broncos.

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that the team added wide receiver Richie James Jr. to its reserve/COVID-19 list. The list is reserved for those testing positive for the virus or being quarantined after close contact with an infected person. One can speculate that it might be the latter, as Matt Barrows of The Athletic reported earlier today that no players from the 49ers' initial reporting group had tested positive. James becomes the first 49ers player to land on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Per agreed upon NFL-NFLPA policy, clubs are not permitted to comment on the player's medical status other than referring to roster status. Clubs may not disclose

Continuity. Cornerback Richard Sherman expects that to be the San Francisco 49ers' biggest advantage heading into an unprecedented and unpredictable season. NFL teams haven't had proper offseasons due to the coronavirus pandemic. When squads gather on the practice field during training camp, it will be their first time doing so since last season. Yes, teams have been working hard this offseason. That work has been conducted virtually, though. Players have been training on their own, save a few player-organized practices that ended due to an increase in positive COVID-19 tests. Sherman expects the 49ers' continuity to help the team overcome the strangeness of this offseason, and fuel a quest to return to the Super Bowl. "This year, we

Pro Football Focus ranks 49ers' defensive line as NFL's fourth-best

By David Bonilla
Jul 20, 2020

Three NFL teams on Monday saw their defensive lines ranked higher than the one found in Santa Clara, California. Pro Football Focus named the defensive fronts found with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Washington (whatever they're going to be called) listed as better than the San Francisco 49ers unit. The reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Nick Bosa, looked like a seasoned veteran during his first NFL season and showed that he is a rising star. "Nick Bosa enters Year 2 of his NFL career after setting the rookie record for most total pressures in a season (80)," wrote analyst Sam Monson. "He broke a record that had
