Harris added to Pro Bowl roster

Jan 25, 2007 at 3:41 PM--

Matt Maiocco of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat is reporting Niners CB Walt Harris has been officially added to the NFC Pro Bowl team, replacing injured Eagles CB Lito Sheppard, who sustained a dislocated elbow in the Eagles' wild-card playoff game.

This will be Harris' first trip to the Pro Bowl, and obviously much-deserved. Earlier this month he was chosen to the All-NFC team, as selected by the Pro Football Writers of America and Pro Football Weekly.

Harris tied for the NFC lead with eight interceptions. He also broke up 17 passes, forced five fumbles and recovered two fumbles.

He was NFC defensive player of the month for November, and was NFC defensive player of the week for his play in the final game of the season against the Broncos.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters this afternoon and provided some injury updates from this weekend's game against the Arizona Cardinals. Quarterback Trey Lance suffered a left knee sprain during the game, but the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue. However, it could impact the rookie's availability for the game against the Indianapolis Colts after the bye week. Lance might miss one or two weeks. "We'll re-evaluate him at the end of the week to determine his status for next week," Shanahan said. "We really won't know whether he's got a chance versus Indy until next week, but he's got a chance. It's possibly one or two weeks. We'll have to wait and see." Neither Shanahan nor Lance knows when the injury

On Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers waived cornerback Davontae Harris, a day after activating the defender from injured reserve. Today, the team announced that it signed Harris to the practice squad. San Francisco initially claimed Harris (5-11, 200) off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on August 17. He landed on injured reserve on September 1 due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old cornerback has recorded 50 tackles, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble through his three NFL seasons. In addition to the 49ers and Ravens (2020), the fourth-year player spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that made him a fifth-round draft pick out of Illinois State in 2018, and the Denver Broncos
