The San Francisco 49ers got their roster down to 75 players today. NFL teams are require to do so by 1 PM on Tuesday.

The following is a list of players that the 49ers have cut as well as those placed on injury lists. 10 players were released and 4 were placed on injury lists.

Frank Gore still watches San Francisco 49ers games. Last night, he was watching when his former team shockingly dismantled the revamped Los Angeles Rams at Levi's Stadium. This morning, Gore joined KNBR and shared his thoughts on some of the 49ers' star players, including the rookie running back. "They played physical," Gore said on the Murph & Mac show. "I liked the way they played the game last night. I like that young kid, [Elijah Mitchell]. ... He's a good back. He's got a bright future. Just tell him to keep working. Just keep his head down, keep working." San Francisco rushed the football 44 times for 156 yards. Mitchell had 27 carries for 91 yards. The rookie leads the team with 560 rushing yards this season. Upon being hired as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, Kyle Shanahan planned to be patient and build a roster in preparation for potentially inserting quarterback Kirk Cousins. Cousins was with Washington at the time, but it was a near-certainty that the relationship would eventually end. The 49ers coached rolled with placeholders until that time presented itself. The 49ers have admitted that they looked into potentially trading for Cousins. However, with the situation in Washington speeding toward an eventual divorce, it seemed to make more sense to wait and see what happened. There was also the obstacle of the strained relationship between the Shanahans and Washington. Cousins never ended up in Santa Clara with Shanahan. The free-agent quarterback

As the 2021 season reaches the halfway point, one thing is for sure: there is still a lot of football left. Even with the San Francisco 49ers sitting at 3-5, they still (thanks to an underperforming NFC) have a legitimate shot at getting to the playoffs this year. But it's not too early to start thinking about the future. If the season were to end now, head coach Kyle Shanahan would be coming off his fourth losing season in five years. The 49ers would also have over 30 players entering free agency, no first-round draft pick in 2022, and appear to be on the brink of a second rebuild under the current front office. Just for fun, let's begin thinking about what this off-season could look like for the 49ers. How this season wraps up will strongly determine the approach this
