Kaepernick, starters may play a quarter against Texans

Aug 11, 2015 at 1:01 PM--

According to San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula, the plan right now is to let quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the starters play about a quarter when face the Houston Texans on Saturday at 5 PM Pacific. The game will be played at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Of course, that estimate could be changed depending on how practices this week go. The 49ers have practices scheduled for later today, tomorrow, and Thursday.

He also stated that linebacker NaVorro Bowman, who is returning from a devastating knee injury, would play. "We're taking the approach that Bow is back. We're just moving forward," said Tomsula.

Things have been uncharacteristically bad for the Seattle Seahawks lately. After starting the season 2-2, with one of those wins coming on the road against the 49ers in Week 4, the Seahawks have struggled as much as any team in the NFL, losing six of their last seven games. The offense has been problematic while quarterback Russell Wilson hasn't found his top form since returning from finger surgery, and at this point it seems likely they'll miss the postseason for only the second time since 2012. The 49ers have been moving in the opposite direction, winning their last three games after a 3-5 start while picking up momentum towards a possible playoff run. Mitchell practiced this past week in a blue no-contact jersey, with his right hand wrapped, and was limited. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Mitchell is expected to play against the Vikings. 49ers' RB
