49ers sign WR Nigel King

According to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports, the San Francisco 49ers have signed wide receiver Nigel King, per his agent. He is an undrafted free agent formerly with the Miami Dolphins.

King will take the roster spot of cornerback Chris Cook, who was released earlier today. In 2014, he graduated from Maryland and transferred to Kansas. He played in all 12 games while starting eight.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the following roster moves ahead of the team's Week 5 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. LB Tyrell Adams, TE Jordan Matthews, WR Connor Wedington were signed to the practice squad. LB Curtis Bolton, RB Kerryon Johnson, and RB Chris Thompson were released from the practice squad. K Joey Slye was signed to a one-year deal. K Robbie Gould was placed on injured reserve. The 49ers re-signed Matthews as tight end George Kittle continues to deal with a calf injury and is considered to be day-to-day. Kittle was active and played in Week 4's loss to the Seattle Seahawks. 49ers sign CB Davontae Harris to the practice squad

On Tuesday, the San Francisco 49ers waived cornerback Davontae Harris, a day after activating the defender from injured reserve. Today, the team announced that it signed Harris to the practice squad. San Francisco initially claimed Harris (5-11, 200) off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on August 17. He landed on injured reserve on September 1 due to a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old cornerback has recorded 50 tackles, four passes defensed, and a forced fumble through his three NFL seasons. In addition to the 49ers and Ravens (2020), the fourth-year player spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, the team that made him a fifth-round draft pick out of Illinois State in 2018, and the Denver Broncos



49ers activate DT Maurice Hurst from injured reserve

The San Francisco 49ers announced that they have activated defensive tackle Maurice Hurst from injured reserve. This past week, the team had opened his practice window and needed to decide on his roster status within 21 days. Hurst suffered an ankle sprain on August 22 and was placed on injured reserve on September 1. San Francisco signed him to a one-year deal on April 23. The 49ers also opened the practice window of cornerback Davontae Harris this past week but opted not to activate the defensive back just yet. The Raiders made Hurst a fifth-round selection out of Michigan in 2018. He registered 27 tackles, a tackle for a loss, 0.5 sacks, six quarterback hits, and a pass defensed through 11 games with Las Vegas last season, per Pro Football

After a difficult loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, the San Francisco 49ers are back for their second straight home game at Levi's Stadium versus another potential NFC contender in the Seattle Seahawks. The Niners lost the bout with the Packers in a heartbreaking fashion in a game that was decided in the final minute of play. The beginning of the game seemed like it was going to be a dominant, statement victory for Green Bay as they got off to a 17-0 lead by the time one minute was remaining in the first half. However, from there, the 49ers' offense led a comeback all the way to the end of the game when quarterback Jimmy Garapolo threw a touchdown pass to fullback Kyle Juscyk to make the score 28-27 with 37 seconds left.
