Arik Armstead will wear No. 69

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, San Francisco 49ers first round selections, defensive lineman Arik Armstead, has chosen or been given a jersey number. That number is 69, which he will wear beginning tomorrow when the team hits the practice field.

He had previously been listed on the team roster as No. 94, which is the former number of retired defensive lineman Justin Smith.

Armstead wore No. 9 in college while at Oregon.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the San Francisco 49ers are optimistic that defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw will play this morning against the Philadelphia Eagles. The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 3 contest against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Safety Jimmie Ward, linebacker Fred Warner, and tackle Trent Williams returned to practice after receiving Wednesday off. None are dealing with injuries. Running back Elijah Mitchell remains out. One wouldn't be able to tell simply by looking at sack and tackle statistics, but 49ers defensive lineman Arik Armstead has been a handful for opposing offenses through the first two games of the 2021 season. Armstead has three tackles and zero sacks in two games but currently ranks second in the NFL in pressures by a pass rusher (15) and in pressure rate (28.2 percent). He's also the second-highest rated 49ers defensive lineman by Pro Football Focus at 81.3, which is just a hair behind defensive tackle D.J. Jones (81.8).
