Raiders a favorite to trade for Jim Harbaugh

Nov 30, 2014 at 8:01 AM--

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that, according to an NFL source, the Oakland Raiders are a favorite to trade for San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. He also states that the New York Jets are keeping an eye on the situation.

Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area added that he cannot envision that Harbaugh would allow the 49ers to trade him because a trade involving draft picks would weaken his new team and help San Francisco.

Harbaugh will have one year remaining in his current deal and it is unlikely that anything will be resolved until after the season is over.

By David Bonilla
May 23

Head coach Kyle Shanahan has been pleased with what he's seen from Trey Lance during these first two organized team activities (OTAs) practices. The third-year quarterback entered last season as the team's starting quarterback. An ankle injury during Week 2 ended that. Now fully recovered, Lance is looking to prove himself to his coaches. The former No. 3 overall pick has taken all of the first-team reps during these two practices. However, Shanahan warns not to read too much into that. "It'll even out," Shanahan said. "We'll make sure to get that right." A reporter was already asking another question when Shanahan interrupted him to clear up a potential misconception about "first-team reps." Kyle Shanahan praises his quarterback room every year. Last season, the San Francisco 49ers went through three starting quarterbacks and still made it to the NFC Championship Game. Trey Lance was the Week 1 starter but suffered a season-ending ankle injury during his second game. Eleven weeks later, Jimmy Garoppolo sustained a broken foot. That opened the door for rookie Brock Purdy to show his coaches and the NFL world that he belonged, despite being the last overall pick in the draft. Purdy guided the 49ers to eight consecutive wins before suffering a severe injury in that NFC title game matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Two of the quarterbacks from last season—Lance and Purdy—remain. Both are just 23 years old. They are joined by Sam
