Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk recently floated the idea of the San Francisco 49ers trading head coach Kyle Shanahan. To clarify, Florio isn't suggesting that a trade is actively being considered but suggests that the Chicago Bears should at least explore the possibility.
Florio draws parallels to Andy Reid's success with the Kansas City Chiefs after he departed from the Philadelphia Eagles, implying a change could similarly benefit Shanahan.
49ers general manager John Lynch addressed the speculation during his appearance on KNBR Friday morning, dismissing the notion with a laugh.
"I sit back, and I try to be focused, but I've found the whole discussion on Kyle and some of the stuff rather comical," Lynch stated. "We have won four of the last five division championships. We've been in two Super Bowls.
"Look, the standard here is to win championships, and we've fallen short of that. I understand. But we have an excellent head coach. And the fact people are talking about stuff like that, I do find it comical."
Lynch emphasized that the 49ers remain fully committed to Shanahan and focused on the task at hand—Sunday's matchup against the Chicago Bears.
"We're 100% behind Kyle and what he brings to our organization," Lynch affirmed. "And, like I said, our focus is really on the Bears and doing everything we can. That's where Kyle's focus is, and that's where all our focus is."
