The San Francisco 49ers have signed cornerback Marcus Cromartie to the practice squad. To make room for Cromartie, the team released tight end Xavier Grimble.
Cromartie signed with the San Diego Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 27, 2013. He was promoted to the active roster in December of 2013. In October, he was signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad and then released a day later.
