49ers sign linebacker; Injury updates

Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers have signed free agent LB Russel Rabe (Saints) to their practice squad.

CB Walt Harris (hip) missed practice Thursday, Nov. 9. Head coach Mike Nolan expects Harris to be ready for the Week 10 game.

S Chad Williams (quadriceps) practiced Thursday, Nov. 9, and is expected to be upgraded to probable for Week 10. Williams will likely resume his role in the team's dime package.

TE Vernon Davis (leg) missed practice Thursday, Nov. 9, and is not expected to play Week 10. He is listed as doubtful on the team's injury report.

On Tuesday, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch informed reporters that running back Jeff Wilson Jr. and safety Tarvarius Moore are being placed on the active/physical-unable-to-perform (PUP) list as the team prepares to kick off training camp. Wilson suffered a non-contact knee injury in May. Moore underwent surgery after suffering a torn Achilles during practice in June. "[Players are] going through physicals today, and if there are any additions, Kyle (Shanahan) will hit you up in the coming days," Lynch said. "But that's where we are right now." Today, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was asked about the contract situation with the team's No. 3 overall pick. Rookie quarterback Trey Lance remains the only unsigned player from the Niners' most recent draft class. "We're sure hopeful that he does (sign soon)," Lynch said. "Sometimes these things -- I just look at our history since we've been here. We've never had a holdout. It always seems to go down to the wire. It's important that he is here. "I think for any rookie, for every player, every rep counts, every meeting counts, but in particular at that position. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN and the player's agent, the San Francisco 49ers have signed quarterback Trey Lance to his four-year rookie deal. The team selected Lance out of North Dakota State with the No. 3 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the last unsigned player from San Francisco's most recent draft class. The signing comes just hours before the 49ers go through their first practice of training camp. 49ers sign TE Joshua Perkins, CB B.W. Webb; waive CB Tim Harris, TE Josh Pederson

The San Francisco 49ers have announced that the team has signed tight end Joshua Perkins and cornerback B.W. Webb to one-year deals. To make room on the roster, the Niners have waived cornerback Tim Harris with an injury designation and waived tight end Josh Pederson. Harris has missed practices with a groin injury that head coach Kyle Shanahan estimates will keep him out for at least a couple of weeks. If he goes unclaimed, Harris will revert back to the 49ers.
