Jerry Rice thinks 49ers QB C.J. Beathard's deep throw vs. Saints was laughably off-target

Can the San Francisco 49ers pass the football deep downfield? Are they capable of it? Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice wonders that. A lot of fans wonder that too. The team certainly doesn't take a lot of deep shots against opposing defenses. They took one on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, though, and it did not go well. Wide receiver Richie James had Saints safety Marcus Williams beat deep. Niners quarterback C.J. Beathard, out of the shotgun, threw the football toward the open receiver. "Toward." As in, in the direction of but not on target. Beathard underthrew the football, and San Francisco, once again, missed out on a big opportunity. It was Beathard's only snap of the game. Trent Williams calls last week's COVID-19 situation 'a nightmare,' feels 49ers were 'screwed'

By David Bonilla

Trent Williams was frustrated as he watched his San Francisco 49ers teammates struggle in last week's game against the Green Bay Packers. The starting left tackle was supposed to be playing. Because the game was on a Thursday, Williams did not have enough time to pass two COVID-19 tests and be cleared to play. "It was a nightmare, man. It was a nightmare," Williams told KNBR's Mark Willard on Thursday night. "It's one of them things, I

49ers-Saints: Still no sign of Deebo Samuel at practice, Kendrick Bourne returns

By David Bonilla
Nov 13, 2020

Reporters did not see San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel during today's practice, which is the last of this week before the team boards a plane bound for New Orleans. That means the second-year wideout did not practice at all this week, making his availability for Sunday's game against the Saints very unlikely. Samuel is attempting to return from a hamstring injury suffered during the 49ers' Week 7 win over the New England Patriots. General manager John Lynch had hoped Samuel might be able to get onto the practice field today but noted that his availability for this weekend remained a long shot. "I think the final challenge or opportunity for Deebo to show that he can go is out here on Friday,"
