49ers-Seahawks delayed due to weather

With 3:13 left in the 1st quarter, the game between the San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field has been delayed due to lightning.

The game will resume once it is safe for the players, coaches and fans.

There is currently no score in the game. NT Ian Williams left the game with a leg injury. 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick was intercepted in the endzone by FS Earl Thomas. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson was intercepted by rookie FS Eric Reid.

NBC has announced that the players will return to the field around 6:45 PM and have 10 minutes to warm up and play will resume around 6:55 PM.

UPDATE:

It has been confirmed by Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee that Ian Williams suffered a broken ankle.

The San Francisco 49ers are placing cornerback Richard Sherman on short-term injured reserve, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. That means missing at least the next three games. While Garafolo didn't have the specifics of the injury, merely noting that it was a "leg issue," his colleague, Ian Rapoport later reported that Sherman suffered a calf strain, which requires "a few weeks of rest and rehab." 49ers had to alter travel plans on their way to play Jets due to damage to their own jet

The San Francisco 49ers typically fly out of San Jose International Airport for road games and were set to do so for this two-game stint on the East Coast. Their plans changed, however, when the plane was found to be damaged, forcing the entire team to travel north and leave out of San Francisco International Airport, according to an on-air report by FOX. The 49ers plan to stay on the East Coast between their two games at MetLife Stadium.
