Sean Smith has booked a flight to ... ?

Mar 12, 2013 at 7:49 PM

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is reporting that free agent cornerback Sean Smith, formerly of the Miami Dolphins, is traveling to visit with someone. Who? No one is sure yet.

The San Francisco 49ers were reported as one of the teams interested in Smith. He has played four seasons with Miami Dolphins after being drafted by them in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He has had 211 tackles, 5 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.

The Chiefs had been interested in Smith, but they agreed to a deal with cornerback Dunta Robinson on Friday, March 8.

Houshmandzadeh: Brandon Aiyuk has 'pessimistic outlook' regarding 49ers extension

By David Bonilla
Jun 7

The San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk seem far apart in their contract extension negotiations. Aiyuk often works with TJ Houshmandzadeh during the offseason, and the former NFL wide receiver joined Bay Area radio station 95.7 The Game this week to provide an update on the situation (h/t Tristi Rodriguez of NBC Sports Bay Area). The Minnesota Vikings recently signed their star wideout, Justin Jefferson, to a deal worth up to $35 million annually. However, Houshmandzadeh acknowledges that Aiyuk should not expect to earn anything near that range. This deal is unlikely to impact Aiyuk's contract negotiations. It's just a

By David Bonilla
Jun 10

Brock Purdy's last full offseason came as a rookie in 2022. However, calling it a "full offseason" is misleading. He was buried on the San Francisco 49ers' depth chart, limiting his practice reps. Despite this, Purdy showed enough promise to earn a spot on the 53-man roster. Just months later, he took over the starting quarterback job and hasn't relinquished it since. Last offseason was crucial for Purdy's development. Unfortunately, he was recovering from surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow. Purdy didn't get to throw to teammates until training camp, leaving some uncertainty about his effectiveness following such a significant injury. Purdy finished last season with a single-season franchise-record 4,280 passing yards,

Maiocco less confident 49ers will get a deal done with Brandon Aiyuk

By David Bonilla
21 hrs

The San Francisco 49ers have had success signing their big-name players to contract extensions in recent years, securing deals with George Kittle, Fred Warner, Deebo Samuel, and Nick Bosa. However, that last one didn't get finalized until dangerously close to the start of the regular season. This year, the team has been trying to get a deal done with wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. While the 49ers were confident early on, given their successful track record, that a deal would be reached, the two sides reportedly remain far apart in negotiations. Last week, Michael Silver of the San Francisco
